Forums - Sony - Got a PS4

I can only assume you like open world titles since you picked up the watch dogs bundle.. I would say then that it is a no brainer you pick up infamous second son.. While not on the same level in tersm of gameplay as its predecessor it truly shows off what next gen is capable of graphics wise. Overall i think its one of the best cyrrent gen only titles out so far. Also resogun and the f2p war thunder

Congrats on your PS4.

As for games I'd suggest Infamous Second Son and Resogun was pretty good as well.

If you really want to see the PS4 shine, try the exclusives, especially Infamous:SS and Killzone:SF, I liked Tomb-Raider:DE, however I don't get why some people prefer it over Uncharted...

I am no fan of the UbiSoft games (except Far Cry 3) so I don't know about watch dogs, but I am sure even comparing it to the previous gen effort is fuitless... but hey, it's your eyes, you decide how you can appreciate it, personally after a few months of PS4 I sold the PS3 because I could just not go back and I hope they port my favourite PS3 games to the new console, with better frame rate + resolution (These have always been major complaints of mine with most of the PS3 and 360 games, since 2005).

Among the smaller titles, I liked Strider (July PSN+ game, this alone makes your subscription worth it for 4 months), Resogun, Pixel Junk Shooter, Trine 2... Not so Outlast or don't starve.

I have been personally pleased with the PS4 so far, but maybe you are looking for something "different", in this case, the only different console is the Wii U, the xb1 has mainly the same games at lower resolutions and a couple of exclusives they try to pass as the next big thing, but they're nothing special, neither visually nor in therms of pure gaming goodness.

Congrats on your purchase. I'd love to see your detailed review of the hardware!

For me, I can't say anything bad about the console. It just seems like a PS3 with a lot of the flaws fixed. People hype up Second Son but I say approach it with realistic expectations if you decide to buy it. Great games are coming but, from my pov, they aren't here yet. You won't regret the buy but know that, like any new console, it's going to take some time to hit its stride.

Heh heh, its only a matter of time now :)

Cool, but I would never see my self getting a PS4 or Xbox One ever
Mainly because I do not want to pay $400 for a console that 95% of its games are on PC I can get for cheaper and have better graphics. I would much rather spend that money on a Wii U so I can get exclusives, and then when a third party game likes Watch Dogs, Call of Duty, GTA, etc. comes out, I can get it on PC

By any chance, if I subscribe to PS+ but my subscription ends because I've stopped playing PS4, I know I can't access the "free" games anymore, but will I be able to again should I renew the subscription?

Yes. When you renew your subscription you regain access to every free PS+ game you've downloaded previously.

You haven't really given us an idea as to what your gaming preferences are, so I'll name a few games I've enjoyed so far:
- Don't Starve
- Resogun
- Tomb Raider (if you didn't play it in previous gen)
- Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag
- Guacamelee (if you haven't played it on PS3 or Vita)

The recently released PS4 version does have a little bit more content, you can also pay a small fee to upgrade from the PS3/Vita versions to the PS4 one.

But I'd recommend most of the same games, with a few changes, my top games would be

Need for Speed Rivals - the best racing game of the gen for PS4 owners
Resogun - It's free and fun (actually it might not be free any more... but still worth a purchase)
inFamous Second Son - really fun open world game and graphically really impressive
AC IV Black Flag - best AC game in a long while. Great fun and it will give you a good 30 hours + more if you care about multiplayer

There are other games to reccomend, probably including Tomb Raider and Guac if you didn't get them last gen (though Guac is almost just as good on Vita, that's where I played it). Same goes for the Last of Us when it comes out, it's simply a mindblowing experience.

Killzone is a solid, if not spectacular FPS, though if you can get it cheap it's definitely worth it for the eye candy. Watch_Dogs isn't essential, but fun so far and Transistor is meant to be good, though I haven't got round to playing it yet

Infamous, resogun, flower, and child of light.

Watchdogs is over rated....its a good game but i expected more...the story is short as well, but to do everything in it takes a while

Well Watch Dogs is taking me ages, solid 15+ hours invested so far, that's including some retards continiously hacking me, and some PVP. I like the seamlessness with which the online is integrated into the game.

In terms of game preferences, my taste varies, really badly. I like open world games but I didn't like the first infamous when I've played it, but I liked prototype and GTA, as I like watchdogs.

I like FPS games, but I didn't enjoy KZ in the slightest and couldn't bring myself to finish the campaign beyond the 3rd mission, but I actually enjoyed COD, BF3/4

I like WRPG's Dragon Age, Witcher, Dark Souls.

Hate JRPG's, find them too corny and cheesy for my taste, longest one I've played is like 30h on fucking Lost Odyssey, cos that shit was long, couldn't finish disk 4, it was corrupted l0l.

I was looking at Murdered: Soul Suspect, possibly giving KZ4 a try despite the bitter taste previous iterations left in my mouth. Maybe AC4, Tomb Raider.

Seems a bit dry software wise (Well the type that appeals to me) atm, but hopefully this time next year it will be changed.

Will likely also pick up tlou remastered when its released.

I kinda brought the console, then realised I won't be able to play Halo on it. #dumbass
