Why so many predictions for this game selling so well. It's overhyped just like Titanfall. Not hating on it but no way will it achieve best selling console game ever! If I'm wrong then I'll stop predicting

Nope. To succeed on that level, you generally need the ability to attract casual gamers, which usually means simplicity and pick up and play capability like Mario, Mario Kart, Minecraft, Pokemon, or even COD and GTA have. Destiny doesn't seem to have that. It seems to require a little more time and devotion and it seems more complex. So I can't see it doing more than 20 million, and I think even that may be a stretch. 12 million or so seems about right.

So how is Activision gonna make all that money? Well, I don't think you're going to like it, but it rhymes with piecro smanzactions.

Consoles, maybe more tbh I'm probably underselling it. Probably closer to 25 million as long as it delivers in quality.

- Edit - Ah acutally we'll see. I really have no idea how the last gen versions are gonna perform as those consoles software sales are dropping like rocks. Not sure about how install base for Destiny will be on next gen.  IDK I think 20 million is a safe bet.

eh, no worries.  it's just a prediction here. 

i was going with 15-20M myself.  the hype is building and the game is getting great feedback from the alpha and this is activision so we know the marketing will be there.  the perfect storm for success really.

Considering current install bases of the new gen machines, and that on 360 and PS3 it will not sell huge numbers I thing 10-12 million across all consoles, and potentially 15M+ if it comes to PC.

If Destiny gets the critical praise it's aiming for then I can see Destiny 2 selling mega millions but it won't be on PS360, so it still won't be able to get much beyond 20 million even with a PC release.

MW3 is pretty much maxing out the audience for FPS and with digital PC sales that probably got to something above 35 million. I think by the time Destiny 3 comes out there might be a big enough PS4bone install base to approach 30 million, along with PC.

Even Call of Duty took one really well liked game to take off. Destiny sales will be a lot closer to 5.5million than 55million. 

Install base on new consoles is still low and its a new IP so it won't sell well on the old consoles. 10-15mil would be a safe bet unless they take a really long time making the sequel. If Destiny is really well liked though that puts the sequels in a really good position to sell well. 

Regardless, no fancy dancy HD console game will ever reach 55million. There just simply won't ever be enough gaming PCs that can handle the game/consoles to get to that number.
