All companies who sell games make money off of them no matter how screwed up their release is
| KLXVER said: Yes, but if you care about that person, then it affects you as well. Of course this is on a much larger scale, but the result is the same. We do care about our fellow gamers, but its impossible to tell them that the company they love is abusing them. |
Of course it effects you as well, but it's not like once they do come to the realization that they've made a mistake, that point is completely glossed over to replaced by sympathy. In my experience, it's a mixture of relief, sympathy and in some cases a small amount of 'I told you so'.
And you're right, it is impossible...currently, to tell people that the company they love is abusing them. But, we better damn well find a way to get through to them, or we'll simply remain unfocused and incapable of steering the industry in the direction we prefer. Of course, that presupposes that everyone or the majority thinks like I do, which may or may not be the case.

If I had the answers, I would've said something a long time ago. Now, I'm just glad that I really enjoy reading, because if the industry does go Belly-up, I have other alternatives to gaming. I've altered my purchasing practices to coincide with my principles, ergo, I don't buy games that I'm not certain about, I don't take flyers on things anymore, I'm more than happy to wait several months+ after launch, just to see how things pan out, and I most certainly don't contribute money to things that I wholeheartedly object to. Yes, I do pass on a great deal of games, but I'd rather stick with my principles than sell out because of something shiny.
That's something everyone can do, but I can't force them to, they'll have to learn about this stuff in their own time.

Yeah I have a sizeable collection as well, on PC and console, so I'm not in any danger of running out of things to do :) Just let's me be more frugal in my purchasing decisions.

People will buy anything - until they stop buying it. They will learn. Sadly, it may all happen at once and cause the crash that is no doubt on it's way.
"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"
I hate it! i hate every idea and game that doesn't cater to my personal interests!
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
