Bad idea. Play the original and skip Twin Snakes

Already did that :P. I got the HD collection and MGS4. Since it didn't come with MGS1, I skipped it. Never really cared though that I played it later. It fixes the questions I kept asking myself. I didn't go ape crazy that I found this and this out later than I should have. Just some character origin and setups.

I would recommend against that. Both games tell the same story and share the same gameplay (with a few exceptions), but in my mind The Twin Snakes isn't a substitute for the original MGS.
Twin Snakes is technically superior, with new voice recordings and cut scenes and a more sophisticated graphics engine, but I think the production design and overall direction of the original game is better. The remake also includes some mechanics from MGS2, but they don't add too much to the game, and, arguably, spoil one of the game's boss battles.
Twin Snakes is a great remake, and a worthy addition to your collection, but I consider it more of a companion piece to MGS, not a replacement.
You've already messed up the order of any suggestion.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I'm pretty sure none of them make any sense regardless of what order you play them in.

Play 3 first. It'll get you hooked on the series and provide a simple enough story (just skip the codec and watch all the cutscenes trust me you get the major story stuff from that). The story is mostly self-contained being a prequel and it's personally my favorite in the series. The only downside is it's kinda downhill after that lol but 1 and 4 are still awesome. Personally I didn't care for Peace Walker or 2 but some like those as well.
