wrong post
The 500M is just a "news worthy" figure to tell the press. Activision doesn't fuck around when it comes to making money.

I don't think he was denying that, but I agree with him that will gap will grow, rather than shrink. |
I'm not denying that either.

Then what was the point of the quote? You said you expect the a: "nice big boost" (suggesting the gap will shrink). Unless you think such an increase won't dent the PS4's lead, which wouldn't make mathematical sense. |
Why would I suggest that the gap would shrink? I do realize the beta is coming for PS4 and Xbox One, meaning any boost the Xbone gets would easily be nullified by the PS4's pre orders.

If that wasn't your suggestion, which you've now solidified in your second sentence here, I don't get the point of your argument. You've been agreeing with him and I. |
All I stated was I think Xbone will get a nice boost after the beta, there was no ulterior meaning behind my comment, just a simple observation I pointed out is all. PS4 will get it's boost (probably a much bigger one than Xbox).

You continue to misunderstand. I never said you had an ulterior meaning/motive, I was looking for clarity in your statement. Seems like, for the most part, you aree with he and I, which is what I gathered based on your latest replies to me. If it is, then as we said, the beta boost will do little to nothing to the PS4's lead, since the gap will continue to grow along with those extra X1 numbers. Of course, we'd need to see exact post-beta figures, but that's what I'm expecting. |
I expect the same thing, never stated otherwise.

'A rising tide lifts all boats'. This sums up my feelings on Destiny. I know a vocal minority are a bit upset with PS4 getting some extra nonsense in the game, but I don't think it's going to be a huge amount of stuff in context to the big picture. I also think that the game isn't pushing the limits of graphics either, so the XB1 version should play quite nicely.
The marketing will push the PS4 version more, and the PS4 simply has more inertia in the sales race at the moment, but overall I think it's going to be a net plus for the XB1 as well. I agree that proportionally destiny will lead to a higher % boost to PS4, but any boost to XB1 is welcome as well, and that should be decent. With the scarcity of good 8g titles, it's great to have more rather than less.

I think you meant to say 'overtracked', but your post is great the way it is right now..

Some insider said last year that a new game that will be coming out soon will need 10 million sales to break even. I think he was talking about Destiny.
