Forums - Sony - Guerrilla Cambridge Working on “High Profile, Multi-Million Selling Franchise:” New Killzone Coming? (Dualshockers)

We already know that Guerrilla Cambridge is working on a PS4 game, and today we get more information on the studio’s plans thanks to a career opportunity ad published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe seeking a Audio Programmer.

Guerrilla’s Cambridge Studio (UK) is looking for an experienced Audio programmer to work on forthcoming projects in a high profile, multi-million selling franchise.

The successful candidate should have at least 3 years experience in the industry and possess excellent working knowledge of game audio systems. Ideally they should be a gamer who is driven to make the best sounding games available on any platform.

The ad also requires prior experience in console audio development and mentions “Improving and implementing in-house tools, engine and gameplay audio features” within the candidate’s responsibilities.

While we can’t be absolutely sure that the “forthcoming projects” indicated by this post are one and the same with the PS4 game we learned about a while ago, it’s definitely possible, as Guerrilla Cambridge isn’t an enormous studio.

As what this “high profile, multi-million selling franchise” could be, the most obvious solution would be Killzone, especially after Guerrilla Cambridge did a very well received job on Killzone: Mercenary for PS Vita.

Considering that the main Guerrilla studio is currently working on a new IP, it would stand to reason to think that the Killzone franchise may have been (at least temporarily) moved to the other side of the English Channel. That said, whatever that franchise is, it’s going to be a big one.

Of course we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Sony to know more about this, but I can’t say it’s not intriguing.

i hope so. this is what i wanted. for GC to make a new Killzone and for GG killzone team to make another new IP.

this will be a great step for GC, as they made a big game on the vita that is killzone mercenary, but now they can move on to PS4 AAA games, but still be in the same universe. making a new IP isnt easy and this will help them grow.

Are GC really big enough to continue the Killzone series? I thought they were a relatively small studio, certainly not big enough to maintain the technical standards Killzone is kept to (unless it's another Vita entry, which seems unlikely).

Still, whatever it is they have me interested. If it's a home console Killzone title then i'd be curious to see how it turns out, though my interest for the series itself is rather limited. If it's not KZ then the obvious question will be "which multi-million selling franchie?" :p

The Killzone Vita game was spectacular. I like it more than Shadowfall.

i forgot what guerrilla cambridge's original name was but it was an entire studio that was absorbed into GG around the time that killzone mercenaries was greenlit.   so there is the team that did kz:sf and the team that did kz:mercenaries.    they did some hiring into the studio as well just before the ps4 reveal.

point being,.. not so long ago they were small-ish but they exapanded by hire and aquisition between kz3 and kz:sf.  today they are two full sized teams.

GC used to be SCE Cambridge. I knew they were small-ish as SCEC, but i didn't know they had gone through a lot of expanding. That's good to hear at least.

Anyway, doesn't Guerrilla as a whole now consist of 3 teams? The SF team, the new IP team and Cambridge. Surprising how much they've grown in the last few years.

Sadly... I'm a little disappointed in this news because it's most likely Killzone. Shadow Fall didn't leave me very excited.

I agree with you on this.
