What if the Smart TV I have gets damaged in some way? How do I fix it? How much will it cost? Will manufacturers fix it depending if it's LCD, LED or Plasma? Will they fix it if it's a discontinued model? Or what if the Smart TV I've bought suddenly becomes obsolete just when there's a new and slightly better TV on the market? Will the hardware on the TV be capable of running or streaming the games lag free?

There are too many questions and many doubts related to a TV like this. It's a good idea on paper, but it's more complicated. This idea wouldn't work unless there's a separate hardware that eases up the load on the main device, something that works like a PlayStation TV, for example.

Uh, I don't think so. I don't want to move my smart TV between rooms in my house. I don't want to take and hook up my smart TV with me on trips to the lake house with friends if we're going to be gaming. I don't want to lug my smart TV with me halfway across the country to university for the next 5 years.

Those are situations I have in my current life that won't necessarily be the same in 5-10 years, but they are problems I'd currently have just with the logistics of movement for such technology. In 10 years I might be more stationary but another generation of people would have those same problems.

And why would I want to let my perfectly capable PC go in favor of a TV anyhow? I don't understand why I would do that. I've already almost given up TV for the PC instead in all realms but gaming.

Fuck no

No just NO!!!! I don't even like the idea.

Nope. Loses all flexibility. The idea already falls apart when I just want to play in the next room.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Smart Tvs won't ever need to "replace" consoles. They would just be able to run streaming apps like PSnow in the very same way smart TVs today can run netflix. Nothing special has to go into them besides them being able to support controllers.
