Why waist money, time and sources on ports if you can make new games?

I guess porting these games is much easier than making new ones, and there is a oportunity for profit now if these releases get 500k-800k in sales, because those projects were to expensive to turn a profit last gen.

Meh. I heard the game was nothing special.

I can't wait to see kupo's reaction though.

I think I'll just limit my posts to "yet another port" seeing i'm going to have to do this for another 37 PS3 games.

I think it's more to do with developers spending their time remastering a series rather than making brand-new games.

This.  The people defending this practice might be fanboyish enough not to care, but what about the 70-80million people who owned the PS3 who would have bought it on that console if they wanted and still have the chance to buy it for much cheaper.  The people who want new games for their $400 console rather than an endless stream of ports.

@Goldenboy  Guess I'm not going to just limit my posts :P.

So, you harshly criticize a group of people as being essentially narrow-minded, then turn around and project your subjective opinion on to millions.

It's Beyond amusing.

Yeah, because we all know that all of these ports are going to get more than 10 million LTD sales.

If they keep this up, gonna have to call the system a PortStation 4 instead of IndieStation 4

I blame me.

On PS3 I bought God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Ico, Tomb Raider, SIlent Hill, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, Okami, Metal Gear, etc. "Remasters" even though on several of them already owned PS2 versions.

I also have bought Super Mario Bros, Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Chrono Trigger three times now...

This is the generation of ports

What ports?

We had Thomb Raider:DE in January

and TLoU + Halo coming later this year! yay flood! Seriously can you count, compared to the complete library this is but a drop in the ocean, especially for the PS4 that already had over 60 games back in May!

Now we have rumors of Sony planning to bring in a couple more (They mentioned Uncharted series + this Beyond 2 Souls rumor)... that's a very small portion of the total library, and honestly, I sold my PS3 a few weeks back, so being able to play upgraded version of my favorite games from the past sounds great to me! and no PS Now won't do it, it's laggy and limited to 720p/30fps, with compression artefacts, even without ports, this is not an option I would consider.

Maybe you want to count all the cross generational games out there as ports (in a sense they all are, everything that is not platform specific is a port, some are delayed, this is the only difference).

I remember all those people that said this kind of stuff wasn't going to happen... The Last of Us was the only exception, that Sony wouldn't take advantage of the situation! Welp... Excuses round two, here we go although I am sure its going to be the same ones anyway! Let the quick cash grabbing tactics continue but hey, least its only a rumor for now...

Who said this? And why would anyone try to find excuses for it? PS3/4 ports are awesome and there can never be enough.

"Awesome" is a very strong word, especially in this case.

TR:DE, Halo, TLOU:R, BTS(Rumor)

At most we have 3 remastered ports for PS4, 2 Remastered ports for X1, Generation of Port for sure...

I don't see how those who say it don't realize they are grossly overrreacting...

Well, the concept is awesome  because it's a win-win no matter which game gets ported.
