I just want to say that the Wii U can be a great bargain if you wait for the right deals. I recently bought the New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U bundle for $275. Target had a buy 2 games get one free deal, so I got Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, & Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for $120. I also got Wind Waker HD for free with the Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo deal. All told, I got the Wii U, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Luigi U, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3d World, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, and Wind Waker HD for slightly over $400. That's a good deal IMO.

Damn that is a good deal! Good on you for getting it :D! I got the MK8 bundle for like 385 lol. I'm going to look for some cheap game deals to try to match you.

Either way, NSMBW gets tonnes of flak and I cant fathom ehy, I agree. But in the end, the console being a good or bad desicion is just opinion.

It gets flak because it is perceived as lazy.  Nintendo needed a Mario game, so they just took an existing engine and made an expansion pack for it in HD essentially.  When this happens people get annoyed because we like change and because too much of a similar thing in a short amount of time deadens your perception of it.  If they had released a full 3D Mario game, it would have gotten a better reception. This is also why Mario 3D World kind of got a "meh" from a lot of people - it's a great game, but it's just "more of the same" in many peoples' eyes with 3D Land.  The same thing can be pointed at DK Tropical Freeze - it's a very similar game to the previous one but in HD, etc etc.

If they had released 4 Galaxy games since the first one, you could assume the same thing would start happening there, too.
