Forums - Gaming - Is sony creating this gen timed dlc?

not sure i really see the difference.

..basically they're just treating dlc like a substantial product instead of an afterthough.  the way dlc is these days i'd say it can be rightlyfully treated as such.

here.  world of warcraft expansion pack pre-order bonus.  same thing.

but thats a bonus though this is dlc with timed dlc

Yes and I don't really see the point cause Xbox will just get that stuff eventually. I guess its less risky to buy exclusive timed content than make a new game.

Seems like its just the GTA/CoD type timed DLC type of deal.

LOL @ announcing all of this and expansions already before the fucking beta is even out though.

except theres hardly any content here compared to the GTA episodes and COD maps.

Probably just a reason to shout 'exclusive to PS4' in the adverts.

Ok now that I read more about it, this is quite different. It's not really like GTA where the DLC was timed. In this regard PS3 owners would have gotten the same DLC drops on the same day as 360, but part of it would be locked away for a period of time, even though they paid for it. Or to put it in CoD terms, instead of waiting 30 days to buy the DLC, you'd basically be paying for a demo of the DLC. So if its like 4 maps, you'd get access to 2 or 3 of the maps and the others would be exclusive to the other platform for a certain period of time. Even though you already paid for the DLC lol.

I would be pretty peeved if I gave a rats ass about Destiny. That's way shadier than normal timed DLC.

It really isnt ..Fallout 3 DLC (substantial DLC i might add) for 6-12 months or whatever it was that was indeed the worst of last gen. Seriously these are extra areas you can visit, and though I agree the timeframe is substantial and not too my liking (I think 1 month delay is fine but on the whole dont like these types of situations). Sony are just doing whats been done before. The difference this time is Sony got their crap together and ensured it was them with the important game rather than MS. Of course i am biased because I have a PS4, but I dont like anyone doing exclusive delayed DLC - i think it craps on the userbase that have purchased your game on another console, but at least its on a console of my choosing this time..lol.

Agree to disagree. I had no problem waiting for CoD DLC last gen since I played on the PS platform to be with a couple of my little brothers.

But this is paying for to play content and then them saying "hey you only get partial access to that DLC you already paid for, until this date". To me that is a whole new ballpark. Congrats to Sony and Activision for finding a way to outdo Ubisoft and bring us down a new level. I know I said before that it doesn't bother me because I honestly wasn't planning on getting Destiny anyway, but I do worry now that this could become a future standard. And as someone who owns all the consoles every gen, seems you'll be fucked no matter what.

These pre-order incentives and DLCs are an absolute mess this gen, and the gen has JUST started. Almost every big game has some kind of timed content attached to a particular console.

This is only getting worse by the second.

why do people always think this kind of stuff is Microsoft or Sony's doing? I'm pretty sure the people that are pushing this kind of stuff are Activision, Ubisoft, EA, etc.

No, Sony is just copying someone else again.

Try harder,your losing your funny!!!!!

Just to show how this is diff

Cod- Xbox buys dlc 30 days before PS but PS still gets all content as Xbox user
Destiny- Xbox buys dlc spends the same amount gets less the PS user
