Forums - Sony - shouldnt psnow (beta) be free?

Sony is essentially charging people to beta test their service. I mean to have a high number of users would only be beneficial to them. For stress testing, and the possibility of finding more bugs. games beta's tend to be free, why is this an exception?

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

I guess they need to test charging people so it doesn't end up crashing on them from a certain amount of money.

Well, to their defense, they have to test the pricing but aren't there any games free at all?

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

cough*they didn't always cost money*cough

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

the closed beta was free.

now, they also have to test pricing systems and find what works.

They are beta testing to see if there are enough crazy people willing to pay those 4 hour prices...

I imagine the closed beta was a stress test.

Its a pricey pay service, I wouldn't anticipate a large number of people using it.

Like the others said, it's probably to test the prices and to see if anyone is willing to pay for that price. For example, If you haven't notice, the the 4 hours option is gone. Sony must have notice the negative feedback, so they are slowly trying to figure out what prices would consumers be more comfortable with.
I think I wouldn't mind a 3-Day option for $3-$7 (depending on how old or new the game is) it would be great for a weekend rental.

The closed beta that recently ended was free. The pricing of the current beta service is an absolute joke.
