Forums - Gaming - So what ever happened to the Def Jam games?

Def jam Vendetta and Def Jam Fight for Ny were two of my favorite games during the Ps2/XB/GC era....so what happened with those games? Icon was TRASH compared to the first two because they went away from the original formula of the games fighting system. And that is what made the games so good if you ask me. If they rebooted the series would you buy it? Or what if they remastered  the first two games for the PS4/XB1? Both seem to be lacking in the fighting games department so it sounds good to me.

What are your thoughts?

Oh and here is a trailer for Def Jam Fight for NY for those who does remember the game(sorry I don't know how to add the video so I added the link)

Because they added a bunch of crap no one asked for with ICON like merging the fighting with rhythm game elements. It's low sales are often used as proof no one wants more Def Jam. I still want more Def Jam. I just want it as a non rhythm game. I want the fighting/wrestling games with environmental damage abilities, extensive customization, good music that was before.

I really wish developers would learn to please customers and not thier own creativity. When you buy a game in a series or of an IP it comes with a set of expectations. If you don't want to deal with those expectations make a new IP.

...really? You wish for more overly commercial, appealing-to-the-lowest-common-denominator sludge?

What I said has nothing to do with the assertion you just made.

Icons is what happened.

Weren't those EA BIG games? Yeah that tanked.

But it is sad because those two games were pretty popular in my opinion. Then ICON came along and just destroyed everything....that ticked me off. And They can make another game like it they really don't have to call it Def jam anything just bring it back with the same fighting/grappling/wrestling system and I am pretty sure it would take off.
