Do you still have a VHS player hooked up to the same TV that you have your DVD Player hooked up to?  No.

You've went and bought movies that have came out on VHS on DVD.

There are plenty of people that still have VCR hook up and stack of VHS.

But your argument make no sense whatsoever ... VHS does not equal DVD.  But HD-DVD and Blu-ray are identical for the most part.

You made it sound as if HD DVD disc would stop playing once they get release as blu-ray.

Until Blu-ray player became dirt cheap (ie when you can have one in every rooms of the house like DVD) then there are no reason whatsoever to replace HDDVD one with blu-ray unless you have 57" HD TV +7.1 Surround in all your rooms.

I have HDDVD and blu-ray player in our family bonus room (our thearter room) and that where the HD disc would be used....so yes I can't wait to pick up all the HDDVD movies cheap!

I should have waited to buy mine, instead of paying $199 for it. I only used it once too, to play King Kong, the movie it came with. Oh well...

Just because HD-DVD failed, doesn't mean it's bad quality. It's still, far better than DVD, and at $50, that's a screaming good deal. It's more of an extremely cheap, slightly inferior, Blu-Ray player. Just because HD-DVD died doesn't mean it's junk now. The quality is still there. Now go buy one.

Damn, I wish they would have reduced the price of the HD DVD drive here in Japan, too. I would've snatched on up for $50-ish, even if it doesn't come with any movies. It was just discontinued altogether :(
