Forums - Gaming - EA Charging $4.99 for Demos on Xbox One

none of you complained about it.

Everyone not already on PS+ already complained about it.  Even some people on PS+ complained.  The only people who'll tell you no one complained are Xbox fans who'll use it to win a petty argument on an online forum.

Stage already pointed out the reason why.  Microsoft's long time use of XBL Gold showed that people will pay for it, even with nothing extra.  Sony was already offering PS+ with five free games a month to around two million subscribers, and to console games who have no where else to turn to for free online except PC, unless you want no games on the Wii U, then they matched Microsoft's policy in order to get money.

There's nothing we can do about the online.  Complaining and accepting it if we want to play online on PSN or ignore it if we don't.  Sony has stolen a good chunk of the Xbox fanbase already, so paying extra for online isn't going to change when those people have no issue with it since paying Microsoft for so long.

About all the free games that people seem to disregard because people are forced to get PS+ in order to play online.  Even on just VGChartz, whenever PS+ is brought up, you always see people that don't know how it works.  Some people often posting that they think you lose the game after it's no longer free on PSN, others who think you get the games for free for a year and then lose them, and then the others who know that every game you get for free you keep as long as you're subscribed to the service, even if your plan lapses and you purchase it again.  PS+ only doesn't sell well because of how many people who don't full understand how it works.

It's such a good service that after the announcement of PS+ being required for online, most Xbox fans who were going to switch over catching wind of it and complaining about Microsoft offering nothing but still requiring to pay online, Microsoft did the same thing.  Microsoft wouldn't try and follow suit by giving free games per month if they didn't think PS+ games were a threat.

But hey.  Look at all the Xbox fans attacking Playstation fans for succumbing to paying for online when those  same Xbox fans have probably been doing so for 13 years with no benefit attached.  Talk about a hypocritical bunch.  For those Xbox fans that don't pay for online and can now watch Netflix, Hulu, etc, for only your $8 a month, you can thank Sony.

Man some people in this thread... Very dissappointing behaviour from both sides.

OT: Ea confirmed its a mistake? Good, cuz this kind of shit should not be allowed

PSN ID: clemens-nl

Good thing this was a mistake. For a minute I thought EA missed their place as the worst company in America, and now they want to take it back and get the worst company in the world while they're at it.

You seem to have forgotten the definition of what a hypocrite is.

A hypocrite is someone who turns back on his word. PS owners lamented Xbox owners all last gen for paying for XBL and said they would never pay for PSN if it wasn't free. Now that they pay for PSN and aren't fighting back which makes them hypocrites.

Locking as per request

But yeah, some people in this thread need to remember what the topic was about. Just be careful!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Or rather you don't know what the definition is.  Here you go.

"of the nature of hypocrisy, or pretense of having virtues, beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually possess"

You're bashing a community for the same act that you've been doing for 13 years.  You're a hypocrite.

Charging for demos make 0 sense, ppl wont pay for the demo and since they didnt get to test the game wont buy the full version. Even EA cant be that greedy and stupid.

I'm not against paying for XBL though so I never complained. I'm bashing a community that refused to  pay and now does.

I never refused to pay.

So that still makes PS fans hypocrites according to your definition because I never changed my principles.

Doesn't mean Playstation fans are hypocrites.  If you want to be a console gamer and still play online, whether you go to the PS4 or Xbox One this gen, unless you want less games on the Wii U, you're going to be forced to pay the fee.  The only people who are hypocrites are those who are glad to pay the fee.

Playstation fans can still dislike being forced to pay for online while paying for it, meaning those people aren't hypocrites.  They're not changing their opinion on it.  Xbox 360 fans had a choice.  They could purchased a PS3 and avoided the monthly fee.  PS4 fans have no choice.  Either pay online on the PS4, pay online on the Xbox One, buy a Wii U which has less online games and will have less games throughout the gen, or go PC, which many console gamers aren't big fans of the PC set up.  I own a PC that can run anything the consoles run but I prefer purchasing the games on console.

Aside from those outspoken about the online, there are also those two million people who signed up for PS+ prior to online being required.  The people who enjoy the value in the free games.  Are those people hypocrites because they continue paying for that value?  I don't mind paying for PS+ because I like the value of PS+.  I don't even have a PS4 yet, so I'm not even paying for online.
