Yeah I was on the Halo hate train before I played CE last year on my PC. It felt so good that Halo: MCC is making me buy an X1 this December.

Bungie was replaced by 343i to handle the Halo series, they lost nothing. |
Errrr.... so if I had a ferrari, then somehow it disappears and then I get a honda... in your book I have lost nothing?
Anyways, MS lost their biggest and most prolific first party studio. It doesn't matter if they replace it with another studio, they lost something. It gets even murkier when you start comparing the track record of 343 studios in relation to bungie. MS losing bungie would be the equivalent of sony losing Naughty dog or polyphony digital and replaving them with sucker pucnh and evolution respectively and you claiming everything is ok. Whats funny is that both sucker punch and evolution at least even have a much better track record than 343 studios.
All that aside, MS has nothing to be mad about, its not like destiny is exclusive to the PS4 or that they would have let bungie make destiny at all if they were still tied to MS. And lastly, MS never "owned" bungie in the exact same way sony never "owned" insomniac. MS owns the halo IP though in the same way sony owns the resistance and ratchet IPs.

Please never change Noble. Never change!
OT: Not really sure why Insomniac is being brought up to this degree, but it seems like one of those things that is "best for business".

This made anything you said after redundant.
Please do tell, how do you know what kinda story destiny will have and how it will evolve over the next 10years?
And while you are at, could you also tell me who wins in the worldcup quaterfinal games on friday? Got a couple bets I may be looking into. This one should be easy for you since its just two days away.

| Arkaign said: Halo 4 sold better because of the name, but it stained the IP heavily, the MP playerbase abandoned it quickly. Halo 4 also came out at a time when the 360 install/active player base was MUCH bigger than when Halo 3 released, and of course Halo 1/2 came out on a system with a terrible install base but had EPIC attach rates. Bungie is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the universe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 343. It would be like handing Uncharted to Platinum or Insomniac. Or handing the Mario/Zelda IPs to Philips (oops, that happened, lol). There are god devs, and there are meh devs. The only reason Halo 4 wasn't worse than it was is because it was basically a turn-key franchise. The less they change, the better, because everything they changed to make it Halo of Duty just worked against them. Metacritic Userscore for Halo 1, 2, 3 dominate Halo 4 completely. It fumbled the franchise. This doesn't guarantee that Halo 5 will also be a disappointment, but .. it's likely. Halo 3 came out before the COD juggernaut came on strong. Halo 4 came out in the midst of that, sold well at first, but faded quickly (especially multiplayer). Halo 5 comes at a time with more competition than ever. BF5 or BFBC3 will almost certainly be dropping next year, Destiny will steal millions of players as it's basically 'Halo : Universe' (by the actual Halo creators and not wannabe hacks), and of course, COD will be fully cranking in the next-gen world by 2015, with AW being a big leap forward from Ghosts. Titanfall 2 with more dev time and a possible SP campaign might also be dropping in 2015. All of this might tempt 343i into wanting to emulate Halo into something its not. That's exactly what doomed Halo 4 into decline vs. previous installments growing the franchise. Chasing COD is a fool's errand, COD is COD. Halo of Duty will fail if they try that again. To make matters worse, the iconic master chief character is retired, and they have the unfortunately named 'Guardians' theme. Problem is : the characters in DESTINY by BUNGIE are called Guardians :P It will seem like a cheap fake Halo to many, a me-too washed-up franchise made by a group that desperately wants to make something they are not capable of. Or, it could be great. What are the odds of that, though? |
Yes I agree that the multiplayer wasn't that great, but 343 still made a fantastic game with an amazing campaign.
Bungie made Halo Reach and Halo 3 ODST also, and Reach is not much higher than Halo 4 and ODST is at 83 on metacritic.
And 343 have already said that they make the multiplayer much better and have sort of acknowledged that Halo 4's multiplayer had some problems.

What track record? Halo 4? That was my point, we know Bungie had a great track record, but so far 343i has only developed a single game on their own. How is it fair to say they've lost something when they've only been able to release one project? The other studios have released games previously, so we could already tell if they had a history of quality or not. 343i is a new studio, so we can't just assume what we got with Halo 4 is the height of their talents.
Why would he be mad? Destiny is going to be on Xbox One just like CoD. Would be like Sony getting mad at Infinity Ward or Treyarch for all that CoD stuff on 360 before PS3.
