Forums - Sony - "I don't get the point of TLOU Remastered"

Apparently it hasn't.  Just because _you_ choose to ignore it, doesn't make it true.

The Last of Us is a simple cross generation port.

No matter how many times you scream this from that mountain top, it doesn't change that it's in a Ghost Town. Fact:

"Remaster (and its derivations, frequently found in the phrases digitally remastered or digital remastering) refers to quality enhancement of sound >>>>>>>> and/or <<<<<<<<picture to a previously existing recording."

That is precisely what The Last Of Us for PS4 is.

This is the definition of a remastered movie or recording. Are you not reading the definition you're quoting me? This is not the definition of a remastered video game. Just use simple logic and it'll make sense to you.

No one is debating whether or not TLoU is a good game. We all know it is. However, Sony is trying to disguise a simple port by telling its consumers that it's a "remaster". No, it's _not_ a remaster by any stretch of the imagination.

Do you even know what "remastering" means? Sure it is a "remaster"... most ports are "remasters". If they change something, even if it were only the fixed resolution, they can call it that.

The game hasn't changed. How hard is it to up the resolution of a game? That's the equivlent of running Tomb Raider on a 8800GT and then upgrading your GPU to a GTX780TI and calling Tomb Raider "remastered" because you can run it on a higher resolution at a faster frame rate. That's not a remastered game. It's a port.

You also cannot apply the definition of remastering a movie to remastering a video game. Even with movies, movies would need to be several years old to be considered "remasters". Otherwise, they're called re-releases. Even so, video games and movies are different.

A remastered game is when the assets in the game have been retooled to support a modern technology or audience. Also, games would need to be several years old to be considered "remastered".

1) Super Mario All Stars would be considered a remastered game. They used all new assets for that game.

2) Metal Gear Solid Trilogy HD _IS_ a remaster. They used all new assets for that game.

3) Zone of Enders HD is NOT a remaster. It is an HD port

4) Soul Caliber II HD is NOT a remaster. It's an HD port.

4) Wind Waker HD _IS_ a remaster. They used all new assets for this game.

You get it?

Well, I for one can't wait to play the remastered version of TLOU.

I've only seen cutscenes so far with a higher resolution and higher framerate, but what I'm really looking forward to is seeing the better character models, better lighting, better shadows, better in game assets, better textures, better AA, higher resolution and higher framerates IN GAME! Multiplayer was already one of the best online experiences out there but at 60fps/1080p, it should be even better.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this game.

LOL. You will be disappointed.

Why?

Do you have any information we dont know about?

because you seem damn adamant to prove that this game would be a failure.

Seems more like you are bitter than sure of you're saying. The game comes out in 2 weeks, only the furture will tell. However, the preorder records are indicating that the demand for the game is high.

Oh... So, Wind Waker HD isn't a remaster either. I see.

Everything I said is confirmed for the game. You're just asssuming ignorance in order to appear superior.

It won't end well.

The PS5 Exists.

What i love most about the PS4 version is the fact that it is not just a port but actually a remastered version.

Can't wait to play it again.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Did we hear the same complaints with Wind Waker? I don't remember.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

No. We didn't.

People accepted that Nintendo was remastering the game to ease the wait for an actual Zelda U.

Now, somehow, TLoU is different from Wind Waker and not worth it. Despite the clear demand for it. Go figure.

I love how the fact that all DLC is included is completely ignored here.... Even if you have a problem with just "Minor upgrades" (WHICH THEY ARE NOT!), including the DLC just makes it a GOTY edition . How the hell is that different than GOTYE from last gen? Except for the fact that you get more than last gen since its a visual upgrade and the DLC. AND ITS CHEAPER! this is madness lol....

There's also in game commentaries with the game director and the two main voice actors (Troy and Ashley).
