Forums - Gaming - Owning an Xbox One doesn't make you a "real gamer".

I would rather say that owning any console or gaming device makes you a gamer :).

Well, that was unnecessarily dramatic.
If you need a thousand word response to the selection "buying an xbox 1 makes you a real gamer", then just write "ha" a thousand times and be done with it.

Classism is always beneficial to the upper class. It wouldn't make sense for the gamer upper class to unite with casuals.
That's why we will never unite.

Exactly, we just sit here hiding in our online VG ghettos until the dirty casuals piss off to their mobiles ;)

I knew a guy that bought a PS3 at the time just because "it's 600€ and I'm rich"... so yeah, owning a console doesn't make you a gamer.

Pretty much this^^^

Owning the consle is one thing.  Using it to play games is a whole other story!

Is there really anybody who has ever bought a console and not actually played games on it?

i have.

Good article and I agree.

If anything I don't consider most XB1 owners real gamers, but once the games start rolling out (and now that there is a Kinect-free system), I'll change my stance. I consider anyone a gamer if they research what games they might want before buying them. If I buy my gf Zelda and she plays it, she's not a real gamer for instance because she relies on me for her gaming needs.

So I buy games based on reviews, I'm not a gamer according to you? I guess then most people aren't gamers

Nothing good on XB1 (or PS4) according to reviews.

I'm not saying all early adopters aren't gamers, but in reality I don't think most are. I think they are just people with too much money.

What is a 'real gamer' anyway?

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

'When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called the people's stick'- Mikhail Bakunin

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

real gamers are the hardcore who are still spamming the games from 3 gens back.
speedrunning the shit out of the classics, they don't need no fancy new console

I'm honestly getting tired of hearing the term 'real gamer', It reminds me of people saying 'That's so Metal.' Ugh.
