PC gaming profits were greater in 2013 than console gaming profits.
Mostly because of the MOBA genre.

Then again console players buy nothing but GTA and Shooters.

And gtfo, CS:GO is only popular on PC, it still gets a a nice chunk of Twitch viewers.

I wont say you're wrong about the PC gaming profits, but I think you should do everyone a favor and at least provide evidence to support your claim.

Also, easy to see how you got warned for saying something like that given that GTA and shooters are extremely popular on PCs as well.

and I got warned for typing 'gtfo.' (I think)  I wasn't mad lol, just meant come on man.

And I was equating how PC revenue is largely due to MOBA games as Console revenue is largly due to FPS games and shooters.  No trolling...

Knowing this site, I'm more likely to believe it's for saying the thing about console players, since what you said qualifies as flaming.

gtfo isn't banned and the context you used it in seemed pretty obvious to me that it wasn't meant literally.

And I see, revenue for PC gaming recently surpassed console gaming.  But even though FPS games sell a lot on consoles, there are other games that sell similar numbers (that isn't GTA or like GTA).

I completely agree. Consoles this generation have almost completely failed to differentiate themselves from PCs.

To the point where it's a little baffling that anybody might buy a $60 game on launch day and $60 worth of DLC down the road when they could wait a year and get the whole enchilada on a Steam sale for $15. The experience is nearly the same, and the PC's added barrier to entry is covered by just a couple software purchases.

On the other side of the market, you have tablet gaming. A better library of puzzle, strategy, indie, JRPG and freemium games than you find on console, with even cheaper software costs, and the added ability to play wherever you want in the house.

Pretty generalised statement there.Console sales are bigger. So Diablo 3 sold more on PS3 than PC? Individually mine raft sold the most on PC but yes, if you add up all console platform sales yes together they are more.

Is that so?

Also on your earlier point PCs have jumpstarted indie development, but since PCs aren't dedicated devices, without consoles their would be less of a focus on Gaming overall.

I know that.  I already implied that by saying that other games that AREN'T GTA sell similar numbers to FPS games.

Not really, nothing sells like GTA on a release-by-release basis. Including FPS games.

Here is the thing, like some I cut my gaming teeth on the consoles I did not get into PC gaming until '94 when I bought my first PC and Warcraft 2. I pretty much became a PC gamer from then on but still played consoles.

Even though today's consoles use the same architecture they are vastly different. I honestly don't understand why the point (s) I am about to make are never really thought of -

- Console hardware is not bogged down by many different hardware combinations, (Chipsets, CPU's, Motherboards, Video Cards and so on) Consoles have a huge advantage in terms of one hardware ecosystem and this allows you to get more out of the hardware then lets say a PC. The PS4 GPU is comparable to a AMD 7850 (modified of course) and you can bet you will be getting every last bit of juice squeezed from it by the time the console is in it's last years! yet can you say the same for PC GPU's? No, the reason is AMD and Nvidia want you to keep upgrading. The hardware in a console is better utilized then the hardware in a PC.

- Console software also benefits from from the console ecosystem as it stands simply because (as said earlier) you have one hardware setup to take into account when you are building a game. If one wants to get technical at most in a current gen you have 2 maybe 3 when you take into account multi platform games (4-6 if you take into account last gen as it looks to be sticking around longer this time) That is FAR better then the ENDLESS amounts of hardware combinations, drivers, OS's and what have you. You also tend to have less overhead when coding on a console.

You have to look at Consoles and PC's as completely different beast even though they share the same architecture... they are worlds apart. Consoles are not dying, even though the XB1 seems to not be selling well it's still on pace for a very good first year.. and the PS4 is just lighting it up!

PC gaming offers some great advantages and it is where I will continue to play my FPS and RTS genres as it is IMO the best platform for them! I just don't see the PC taking the place of a dedicated gaming console (though that line is beginning to blur) anytime soon but rather continuing to coexist.

The only real threat to gaming as we know it maybe mobile. I can see handhelds being in some trouble but not consoles... not for awhile.

PC only gamers don't give a rats ass about cinema games and watered down shooters when we've already got the biggest and best genres around - LoL, Dota2, SC2, CS:Go, and MMORPGs.

I was unable to find LoL, Dota2, SC2, CS:Go, and MMORPG console petition. But I found this. Care to explain what is a rats ass?

Well I don't know what the abbreviations for the other Hanes stand for.  But I know CS: GO is on consoles...I own it.
