Forums - Gaming - PS4 vs. Xbox One: What Sony’s console still does better than Microsoft’s box

Graphical performance

Remote play

Livestreaming options

Preloading digital games

Share button

Built-in controller headphone jack

1: yes still, but the gap is going to be closed. at least for the resolution stuff. ps4 will be still ahead (4msaa vs 2, etc) but it wont be THE big thing for the whole generation

2: yes point for sony. lets see if we can do remoteplay on windows 8 (9) tablets in the future :D

3: maybe u got one more option, but the twich integration is better on xbox one. imho a tie, or personal preferance

4: will come to xbox one, too

5: u can use kinect and voice commands to do that

6: u save 25buck on ps4. not that big deal...

p.s thouhgt there was some indi stuff in the op too. looks like i delate it.

yes, point for sony again. but ms is much better than last gen where they only cared about aaa

I wish "indy games" wasn't one of the things PS4 does better than Xbox One.

because you hate indies and having more gaming options on the system ruins your experience?

or because you wish xbox had them too?

How dare they bring more games that I don't have to buy to the console.....

Gotta love the logic, really.

Let's not forget:

- Smaller day 1 patches
- Cheaper camera
- Cheaper voice commands
- Smaller console
- Upgradable hard drive
- Shorter install times
- Ability to play the game while an update for it is needed/downloading

Then for xbox one:
- Faster downloads on average*
- Ability to troll on vgcharts while playing forza 5 with snap.
- Replacable batteries on the controller
- HDMI passthrough
- More numerous online servers

And lets rejoice at the things competition has brought:
- Games with gold
- PS+ requirement for online play (better servers as a result)
- Cross game chat
- Preloading games
- More streaming options
- No more payway for subscription apps
- A diligent focus on games from both companies

All in all, in Companies vs Consumer, we win with a flawless victory.

I thought I already posted in this thread but apparently my reply was lost in the interwebs. I said something along the lines of:

Neither one of the articles (PS4 over XBO and XBO over PS4) list all of the advantages and even leave out some major ones. Still, I don't see anything from either article that would make me, as a consumer, choose one over the other. I just think it's sad that the PS3 and Xbox 360 have much more capabilities than the PS4 and XBO (outside of gaming). I'll leave it at that.

--PS3/PS4/360/Xbox One/Wii/Wii U owner, btw.

Can you install games to external hdd now? havent bothered to check.

Camera is indeed better (1080p) but its also much more expensive, if you just want a camera for streaming online.

Really? Both of mine (ps4/xboxone) are virtually inaudible as all of the games i own are digital, do they both still have jet engine level noise while reading disks?

PS4 uses more power when gaming, Xbox one uses more power while idle. which is what both consoles are the majority of the time, I believe the kwh/year for xbox one was more than that of the ps4, lemme dig up the chart.

But really, power consumption isn't really something i would consider to be a major selling point for ANY system.

"While both Xbox One and PlayStation can livestream video, only Sony’s system is capable of quickly taking a screenshot. Gamers can use the DualShock 4′s Share button to grab an image of the screen at any time. They can then use that button to quickly share it to social media."

It's yet another piece of the system that's behind a paywall, but you can do the same for the Xbox One as well. There's no share button, but if you have a Kinect enabled Xbox One, you can say "Xbox Save/Grab/Something That" and it'll record the last 20 seconds of footage. That's what they said in their conference. Not sure if it actually works with the system. I don't own one.

I share his opinion, I think it's sad because microsoft used to have indies on their side.

It doesn't mean Sony did good, it means microsoft did bad. And that's sad.

lol sure u can install games on the external hdd. and that resluts in faster loading times as well

there are several reports for slightly louder ps4 while gaming (depends on the game, btw :D)

but ofc its total subjectiv if u feel annoyed by the noise. i just own an xbox one. and the reading disk noise is still louder than fan noise. ofc not compareable to xbox360

as i said less power consumption*

*except connected standby due to kincet recognition ;)

  1. I think MS has done a great job at brainwashing the media and some consumers when it comes to the power difference between the two consoles. While superficially the gap will be closed, games running  1080p@30/60hz on both consoles; but as you said there will be other areas that the PS4 will have the edge. I just think those other areas will amount to much more than better AA. I'm thinking, better AA, more stable/higher framerates, better texture resolution, more effects/particles, more onscreen geometry, faster loading.....etc.
  2. Will agree with you here.
  3. Not a tie, you may say twitch integration is better on the XB1 but I could say the PS4 has share factory which is an overall better video editing app for share. Though I see features like this as insignificant cause I don't think someone will go out and buy one over the other cause they can "share" games better on this one over that one.
  4. Doesn't really matter what will come or wouldn't, that kinda goes against what this thread/article is about. We are talking about what one has over the other right now. I could go through the XB1 list and with the exception of the HDMI passthrough i could say everything on that list could/would come to the PS4 too since they are all software related.
  5. Again doesn't apply, cause this article is talking aout a $400 XB1, which as you know....doesn't have kinect so no voice commands.
  6. Its kinda a big deal for ease of use, but will agree with you cause again I don't think someone will buy one over the other due to something like this.

I think what the PS4 really has going for itself is an accumulation of features
