Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One vs. PS4: What Microsoft’s console does better than Sony’s

the only real important point is that instant resume. but that is still coming to PS4 via an update.

adding the battery as a XB1 advantage is a joke, lol.

I care nothing about television, twitch, kinect, or apps. The one thing is the battery life on the controller, but then I have two DS4s so when one gets low I charge it and play with the other. Much rather do that than deal with AA batteries.

Isn't it slightly misleading to say that the XBO costs the same as the PS4 and then use Kinect as an example, especially since the Share button is "free"?

I think the updates on the XBO are great though, especially since MS wants the community to get involved.

Thanks jlmurph!

Xbox On, Xbox Pause, Xbox Play, Xbox Volume Up, Xbox Volume Down, Xbox Turn Off. I wish everything in life had these voice commands. Believe me, I've tried them on many things on a daily basis. Bedroom TV, Car Radio, Lights. Then I realize I have to actually move and do it myself, instead of vegetating and storing fat cells

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Firmware updates? Really? The reason for the number of updates is simple...the console launched with BETA software, and they are just now getting most of the bugs fixed! I wouldnt say that is an "advantage".

Controllers? I went and played with an XB1 display...I thought they felt SIGNIFICANTLY more flimsy than either the XB360 controller or the PS4's Dualshock 4. The triggers felt loose and rattled a little with significant side to side movement where there should be none. Not having rechargeable batteries standard is also a negative. Also, having to use a separate headphone adaptor? REALLY? So you spend $59.95 on the controller, $20 for the battery pack and charge kit, and another $20 for the headphone adaptor? $100 for a useable controller? NO THANKS!

TV integration? Without full DVR support this is less than worthless. Voice recognition? Let me know when it gets 100% accuracy and doesn't react to commands it hears on TV commercials. Why is this even mentioned at all, since the $399 sku doesn't even HAVE these features?

Most console customers want to play GAMES...and that's the one thing it CAN'T do better than the similarly priced competition, and THAT will be the nail in it's coffin. MS simply spent WAY too much time and effort designing a console around a concept no one was asking for instead of focusing on what made them great last generation!

All of this is reflected in their current sales...but I am sure there are plenty at MS who still look at sales numbers and think "Why?".

Frequent firmware updates are NOW a positive? What a change from last gen.

I was about to say this, last gen people were constantly bitching about the frequency of PS3 updates and now it's seen as something positive...

So do these advantages along with X1s exclusives make the X1 appeal to you more, or is the X1 just a weaker console for the same price as the PS4?

What advantages? And what exclusives?

I was about to make a very similar post. Last-gen I remember PS fans asking for less firmware updates because they took too long. Not only did we get that but firmware updates take up only about 15 seconds of our time this gen.

This entire list is nothing for me. The battery life complaint doesn't hit me at all because I'm close to my console while playing and keep the controller plugged in most of the time. The voice commands are arguably in SONYs favor because we don't have to buy a seperate camera or pay extra on the console for it. The bundled ear piece or our own headset/earbuds work just fine.

4 ≈ One

I personally like the option of having replaceable batteries just like in my phone (apple vs. android) as far as when batteries get low on the ps4 sticks and plugging in the cord to resume playing. The same can be done on the 1's controller, you can plug in any standard micro usb cord, and play without batteries. Although I do like the speaker in the PS4 controller even if it does feel gimmicky, but using any pair of headphones is pretty sweet.
