Well Titanfall is backed by EA and Dead Rising is backed by Capcom so there the ones who fund the game not Microsoft, Microsoft just pays for exclusivity which is a lot less than development cost.

Sunset Overdrive though poor Insomniac.

Why poor Insomniac? Insomniac owns the rights to Sunset Overdrive and without MS they wouldn't been given a chance to create SO. Insomniac has repeatidly said how MS is much better than EA.

Well, let's see what happens if Insomniac wants to do a sequel to SO and asks MS for funding again...

What do you imply? MS not interested in a successor? Not interested in spending money for a sequel? Why not? Based on what?

The fact that Microsoft was only interested in funding a sequal to Ryse if they got control of the IP.

Hunn... what has MS to change its mind about Ryse IP rights from Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising, Titanfall and others?

MS has funded Remedy again  why wouldn't they fund Insomniac??

That's what we are told. The detailed details from such contracts we don't know. But generally I also wouldn't spend money on a sequel which is perhaps to be released on other platforms.

Yea they want full controll of the IP so it stays exclusive to their platforms. Seems fair to me. They would be foolish to fund the sequel without getting full control. Sony would do the same thing.

No, I'm saying that if the game turns out like Ryse from a sales perspective, then I don't see why MS would fund another one without getting more control over the IP, if the game turns out a huge success, then I'm sure they'll fund a sequel no matter what. Btw I think Sony would do the same.

Of course they would ;) And it would be totally rational to do so. Given the attention SO has currently I hope the game sells well - both for MS and Insomniac to strengthen the competition.

MS has funded Remedy again  why wouldn't they fund Insomniac??

And MS this time has full rights to the Quantum Break IP ;)

I wasn't implying that they wouldn't fund them at all, just that they'd only do it under certain conditions and one of those might be ownership of the IP.

Agreed. Sony asked for the Ownership of Ratchet and Clank and MS will do the same for SO when the time comes.

Poor Crytek, why coudln't they just stay an PC developer? Now with console hardware moved on to X86 they could have simply ported any of their games to PS4/XOne(and give consoles a bad port for a change).
