I think SS did density better, honestly. Even though it was segregated, the individual areas were fun.

Or the boring sky of nothingness

I haven't played Skyward so I don't know about it but the great sea felt really empty for me.

If you are a true old school Zelda fan you will hate SS or find very very many flaws in it.
but if you got into zelda 2006-now then you will like it.
the sky is like WW's sea but even emptier.

But Skyward has an overworld below the sky, doesn't it?

its linear for the most part. parts that seem big are decieving they are all linear paths

Yeah. The Overworld below the sky is the complete opposite. If you enjoyed the areas in 2D Zelda's like ALttP and ALBW before the dungeons, you'll love these. People try to downplay them by calling them linear, but they are no more linear than those areas. The linearity in SS comes from the fact that you can't choose the order in which you tackle those areas and that the areas are completely separate from each other, not the actual areas themselves.
Skyward Sword has a lot of flaws, but don't let anyone try to tell you that the ground levels are one of them. They are some of the best parts of the game.
Yeah, right...

Skyrim map is 40 square kilometers. Kyoto is 830 square kilometers. Yup, you got it.
It won't be of that size however, 800 km2... for Nintendo's debut in open-world games? Nope.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
