Forums - Gaming - Value proposition. MCC vs. LoU remastered

Most people that own a next generation console only own one. And most people that own a next generation console had its predecessor as a preferred console last generation. In that respect this is a moot comparison as value is a subjective concept.

On the other hand, feature for feature, this is not even a debate. MCC would win hands down.

In terms of resale value of all the games everything in the collection (even unedited) dumps on TLOU remaster.

In terms of play time and replayability everything in the collection dumps on TLOU (even without the multiplayer).

In terms of multiplayer options everything in the collection dumps on TLOU.

In terms of new experiences everything in the collection dumps on TLOU (Halo 1 online multiplayer, and Halo 5 Beta, and Nightfall).

Having said all of that, the comparison is pretty unnecessary - very different games.

Didn't they say a fair chunk of 360 owners upgraded to PS4? That to me is the whole logic behind releases such as The Last of Us.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

For me none offer much value per see... but as a HD collection buyer I would say that in money MCC offer more value, in content that interest me then would be TLOU. Since I have TLOU in PS3 I wouldn't buy TLOU in PS4 until it hits U$$ 20,00 price point. MCC I wouldn't buy because I have no interest in the franchise or console.

This post reminded me of that mission in Halo 3 where the Marine is saying how the "Tank kills everything"!! xD

I belive that when most people talk value, they don't talk about what one game is priced on PS compared to what the other game is priced on Xbox, I think they talk about the amount of playtime you'll get out of the game. If we go by that definition of value then Halo: MCC wins (I assume, since it's four games vs one).

That should be the only definition of value. You get exponancially more for your money. This shouldn't even be up for descussion. 4 games vs 1. The end.

Well, if you discount the only endless MP, MCC, TLOU, most of the HD collections in PS3/4 would lose for games like GT5 (were you need like 600+ hours to complete the game without counting MP) and some crazy RPGs... so the quantity of games alone doesn't make more value in the "time played per buck payed".

"They" was Sony using a highly flawed and skewed methodology. So no.

And the whole logic behind releases such as TLOU is to make a relatively quick buck off the back of an extremely good game, whilst padding a library that is very bare in its first calendar year.  Minimal dev time and money for a quick reward.

This is true to an extent for MCC as well, but there is clearly far more development time and resources being put into the collection, as per my previous post.

Surely by that logic, RPGs are always better value for money than anything else though?

You can't quantify value. It's purely subjective, 4 games someone isn't interested in, in one compilation, isn't as good value as Daytona USA on PSN/XBL to someone who loves Daytona USA.

Surely by your logic, games like Little Big Planet and anything with a level creator offer by far the best value for money???

You can't be serious. This post pretty much destroys everything you just wrote in one sentence:

I would prefer playing TLoU, but the Masterchief Collection obviously has a better value IMO.

Value is not based off personal preference. It's based of something tangable. A level editor isn't tangable. It's based off potencial time spent. TLOU Remastered is a next gen GOTY edition. Nothing more. It's a directors cut. I don't like any of Naughty Dogs work as much as most people do, but I'd be a blind idiot if I tried to say that an Uncharted Remastered collection with Uncharted 1-3, plus the Vita one, all remastered in 1080p 60fps for $60 wasn't an infinitely more valuable offer than Wind Waker HD was.

So now you don't believe PR? That's funny because you took Gamestop's words as fact when they said XBOs were flying off the shelves. Or do you just pick and choose whichever statements support your console of choice?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Okay, I dind't realise the source was Sony, but as for "more development time and resources" on MCC I'd strongly disagree. It's 3 straight ports to XB1 from 360 with 1 remake. Only Halo 2 is having any serious effort put into it.
