20M wii u is looking likely. Max 25m. The ps4 will hit ps3 numbers so the XB1 has to sell less than 65-70m... I'm going to say it will

I don't think Xbox one going to sell half of Xbox 360 numbers outside USA this time due to PS4 being better product for multiplatforms along with hardware power/price, VR, PS Now, many studios working on exclusives etc., and USA going to match 50-70% of Xbox360 numbers this time. So, i expect around 35-50 million for Xbox one, Wii U around 20 Million max and PS4 will hit 80+ million like PS3 easily with a share 55%+

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Then it's quite different from "some games". Certainly it will be absolutely different from the PS1/PS2 in term of total software domination, but we are not talking about selling 150 millions consoles and ending with 75% of the generation sales. And also, having a massive exclusive game advantage was the only way to go. We now have multiplatforms, superior version, Public Relations, indy games, hype, etc. to make a difference. And so far it proves to be enough to get 50% of the market.

My opinion is that the current trend will continue, because the next batch of buyers are followers. They see their friends, watch the news, and based on that buy a console that they think will not fail, not end too soon, is guaranted to be supported by games, and have the best FIFA/COD version.

50% is still quite a bit.. i am not willing to bet that (marginally) superior multiplats and  hype are going to push it to those levels.

You can disagree on what the market will become, it's not big deal, but it's not about "pushing to those levels". It's about staying at the current level. The PS4 is already getting about 50% of the console sales for a few month, that's not anticipation, that's reality. The hype, marginally superior multi, etc. is already giving it a 50% share of monthly sales. The installed market share is only 42% because the Wii U was 1 year ahead and the xbox one had a great launch, but the current trend is 50%.

So, my point is that it will not change because the later the client buy, the more he has a chance to be a follower, and that will preserve the current trend. The question is : does the guy that bought a PS2 3 years late was crazy about the 1000 exclusive games, or did he buy it because all its friends had it, he could get cheaper games, it was a secure buy and because he could borrow FIFA from a friend for free ?

50% isnt out of the question, and i see what youre saying about sheep mentality.. but i really do expect x1 and wii u sales to pick up and ps4 sales to slow down. its not going to continue outselling x1+wii u 2:1  unless sony does something competitive, which it hasnt in awhile. microsoft and nintendo are making a lot of moves right now and sony isnt.

Beginning of January, the PS4 had: 34,3% market share
Beginning of February, the PS4 had: 36,5% market share
Beginning of March, the PS4 had: 39,3% market share
Beginning of April, the PS4 had: 40,9% market share
Beginning of May, the PS4 had: 41,9% market share
Beginning of June, the PS4 had: 42,7% market share

It grows. Quite fast, even now.
I think it'll get more than 50% and then, with the sheep effet Norris2k described it'll climb to 65%. Next christmas will tell.

They are fighting back for sure, and I agree x1+wii u with a good support can go higher and prove me wrong. But I'm still betting the comeback/good game effect will fail to the sheep effect... 2:1 is my bet ;)

I think it's likely, but I hope not

Unless something changes dramatically, PS4 will hit and sustain 50%. Like many others have said, 60% is probably the better question.

Sony has already won Europe, and it will only get more dominate in that region. Japan will start to take off once they start getting things like DMC, RE, KH, FF, Persona, DQ, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and more start releasing.

As has been noted before, the only place it has any threat is the USA and the UK. The way things are looking so far though, they have a real good shot at taking a sizable lead in those places as well.

I still see the end of the gen as this;

PS4 - 120M+
XBO - 50M+
WiiU - 20M+

I believe it will end up having 50-60% marketshare, probably above 53!
