Where did he mention length...? You described it as a "big game" which is universally understood around here to mean it will sell a lot :p

Sales wise i'd be incredibly surprised if CT outsold inFamous:SS (unless Nintendo decide to hardcore bundle it). Actually i'd say it doesn't have a chance.

It probably won't, but it's not exactly fair as the PS4 is doing much better than the Wii U. So do we look at attach rate?

Attachment ratios are somewhat pointless as well. The large majority of WiiU owners do so for Nintendo games (few other reasons to own one), so naturally Nintendo's own games sell well within that limited install base. The PS4's player base on the other hand consists of both Sony fans and the general core market. That extra market does often lead to higher total sales, but attachment ratio goes down the toilet pretty quickly.

I do think Infamous benefited from being the first major exclusive on the PS4 though.

bolded: ...yeah, that's not true.

Halo 2 will be remade, the others will be remastered just like TLOU.

And it should have been their main focus to get at least one AAA exclusive this holiday period. Why? Cause people aren't allowed to play multiplats (with some exclusive content) on the PS4? Cause people aren't allowed to play cross gen games on the PS4? Cause people aren't allowed to play digital games on the PS4? So people on the internet could win some list wars? I mean whoopde-fucking-do the Wii U is getting Smash as its big AAA exclusive this holiday season, that automatically makes all the games the Wii U isn't getting unimportant. There won't be any Destiny, Fifa, Battlefield, Evolve, Dragon Age, AC Unity, The Crew and probably a couple more games that I don't remember right now on Wii U but, who cares, there will be Captain Toad, great that Nintendo concentrated on first party exclusively.

"But what about MS, they have third party support and also some big games this holiday season" you might ask now and the reason for that is simple, they are fucking rich, MS does the exact same timed DLC business as Sony, but they still have more money to throw at some third parties for exclusives (cause if you think about it you might realize that MS' first party hasn't exactly drowned people in games on the X1 yet). And what do they actually have over Sony? FH2 apparently doesn't count since it's racing AND cross gen and Halo MCC is, while a great value, still a remake/remaster so I'm not sure how I'd count that, after all it's apprently much better to repackage 4 of your old games and sell them as your big holiday title that it is to repackage one of your big games and sell it during the summer drought. So what they have left is Sunset Overdrive, brilliant. MS and Nintendo obviously knocked it out of the park while Sony completely dropped the ball.

Why should it have been Sonys main focus to maybe rush out one big unfinished first party game this holiday season? To do what? Why is it in your opinion such a failure on their part that they have apparently been forced to delay their big holiday game a couple months, something that has been happening to Nintendo several times already this gen?

I thought people bought a new consoles to play new games with new experiences, not to buy cross-gen games and remakes. ;)

I can play any third party game I want on my PC. It also has the benefit of running better than the console versions. :)

Yeah, I think the only advantage consoles have over PC is exclusives, so if there aren't any exclusives than that console is not worth it IN MY OPINION.

Yeah, then you quite frankly thought wrong. How many people do you think are going to buy a PS4 for the new Fifa this year? How many are going to buy one for Destiny? Right now people are buying new consoles because they're tired of the old systems, why do you think the last gen versions of cross gen games released this year are selling so much worse then the current gen ones? People just want new gear.

And the PC argument is extremely weak in this case, I don't care if you can play those games on your PC, the point is you definitely can't play them on your Wii U and that is a huge failure on Nintendos part and something they should for their next system (cause for this gen the ship's basically sailed) definitely focus on more then having at least one AAA exclusive at the end of their first full year. You might buy consoles for exclusives only, but there are a ton of people that do all their gaming on those machines and who simply don't give a damn about if a game is exclusive or not, they just want it on their system.

What an utterly pointless and off topic post is this? You sound extremely bitter.

Yes, buying exclusive content is very pathetic. Instead of buying exclusive content from third parties, Sony should focus on getting their own games released. It's very much on-topic. It's like Sony is trying to cover up their own lack of games with this. Invest in your own games, not in timed DLC or advertising rights.

You should also be bitter over such low standards.

Low standards? What fucking bullshit.

Making the right deals with the right third parties is not pathetic, it's just intelligent business, MS has been doing this very successfully with Cod for years now. Also who says they are not focussing on getting their games released? Just because they don't have that much for 2014 (cause we all know that Nintendo had no problem delivering their games last year, right? It's only because pathetic Sony doesn't focus enough on finishing their games)? They have 2 games scheduled for Q1 2015 already, so I'd wager that they are very much focussing on getting stuff done.

Yeah, still doesn't make the PS4 line-up all that great this year. Nintendo fans don't care for third party games, they don't buy them, so why should it be bad that there's no support? Even on the huge install base of the Wii, people barely bought third party games. So no, a lot of Nintendo fans aren't missing out on anything I'm afraid. I would be missing out on something if I didn't game on my PC, but I do, so there's that.

If people buy consoles for slightly better graphics on FIFA, then well, they're very easily swayed... And that's the nicest way I can say it.

Im serious here, but Ive never seen anybody call Sony out on buying exclusive Assassins Creed content for years, or more recently the Watch Dogs content. Not timed, but outright exclusive.

well if it makes you feel any better i been calling this a shitty practice for a while now. specially this Destiny deal, it just stinks.

The AC and WD deals while annoying, arent THAT bad, they are exclusive side missions at best, they arent all that and they dont really effect story, gameplay or the main experience at all. this Destiny deal however does effect gameplay because it takes away gear and weapons. i would rather have it that no DLC is exclusive, its annoying and it does more harm than good for us gamers.

1 year is actually a good amount of time.

Hmm...why should it bad if there's no support, maybe because the lack of support keeps anything but Nintendo fans from getting the system, which is a huge problem for Nintendo? They struck gold with the Wii, a system that was loved by the masses, but something like that isn't simply repeated as is very apparent with the Wii U, so the safer way for Nintendo to get a successful console is to actually get the core gamers on board and for that they need third parties.

And there is nothing negative about buying a new console for the new Fifa, it's simple consumer behaviour and doesn't mean someone is stupid or something, after a couple years people just want to replace their old stuff with something new an shiny. Do you think people buy new TVs because the new ones come with some exclusive TV programs they can only watch on them or is it because they just want to watch the same stuff they can watch on their old TVs with a better picture? Or to just stick with PC gaming, do you think that every time a PC gamer upgrades his graphics card it's because he literally can't play the newest games with the old one anymore or is just that he want's to be able to set the graphics up to ultra again? I'm sure that if you think about it for a second you'll be able to think of occasions when you yourself did something like that, it's normal, everyone does it.

Actually, no. I've always found that weird and stupid behaviour (sorry if that sounds mean). I've had 3 different TVs in my life, the reason why I upgraded a year ago was because of digital TV which has a lot of benefits compared to non-digital TVs. I still don't own a smartphone... I've only ever bought one laptop for myself (also last year). I'm already happy if I can play all the PC games on medium settings...

I guess we're just different people. And I don't fit into the majority I guess.

Yeah, if this is true then you're really the exception to the rule and I'd say, wild guess now, that in ten years that stance will have changed as well.
