What I am saying that if I were to just own a X1, I wouldn't need a PC as much as a PS4 owner would. That is what I mean by self sufficient.

"By your logic if every single XB1 game was available on Wii U the XB1 would win against PS4 because its games aren't on PS4...? what? None of that makes any sense whatsoever."

Yes, yes it would win against PS4. Because Xbox and PS are locked rivals. Not Nintendo. Not PC. It is MS vs Sony, Xbox vs PS. Keep the discussion in the family. When you deviate from that strict criteria, you admit it can't compete by itself.

lol

"Need"...please keep the "need" term with consoles. It belongs there. PC is the best platform for gaming and therefore #1. Free online, option between m+kb and controller, option between office and couch/tv, modding... Consoles need exclusives in order for you to "need" to own them.

I don't care about locked rivalries or "families". If a console can't offer me good exclusives that I can't play on PC then there's no reason to buy one. Or no "need" for it.

If Sony or MS want to sell their systems they need exclusives. If a game is on PC then there is no reason to buy a console for it.

If PC version released, I always buy this version, so I don't count console exclusives as exclusives, obviously.

I agree with you about the exclusives but the prevailing argument on this site for months was that the PS4 was doing so well because it had the undisputed best versions of multi-plats.  And while you say there's no reason to buy a console for games that are on a PC, the opposite seems to be what's happening.  Console sales of multi-plats consistently shit on the PC sales.  So if a game is on console, it looks like people see no reason to buy the PC version of it.

I'm just saying.  Anyway, this isn't my argument so I'm gone.  Later, bro!

If a game is in more than one platform, by definition it's not an exclusive. You can describe more the exclusivity (Titanfall is a Microsoft exclusive, it's in 360, Xbone and Windows (PC)), but if they only say it's exclusive, only one platform.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

For some it's when the argument suits them at the moment. For me personally no I don't count games like Final Fantasy XIV and Titanfall as exclusives.

That ^ (the bolded part) :) I can tell you that if you would have listed FF XIV in the OP, you would get way more yes!

As far as counting console exclusive, I'm just usually looking between the big 3 (and ignoring PC).

So if something is available on Sony consoles only (one or more Playstation console) it is a console exlusive for me.
So Final Fantasy XIV, Titanfal are exclusives in my oppinion.

You're contradicting yourself. You just made it clear that you need to exclude PC is order to compete with PS4's library, hence that is a XB1 weakness. There isn't a "PS4 vs XB1" bubble. Those aren't the only 2 options. If it's on PC it's not exclusive. If you need to include PC games then the XB1 is inferior by itself.

Yes, I believe in a 1 vs 1 scenario to see which is a better option in itself. That is what comparisons do, regardless of real world situations.....like certain fans using PC as a crutch.

"If you need to include PC games then the XB1 is inferior by itself."

Actually it means PS4 is inferior by itself because X1 is self sufficient.

To see which is a better option you look at the whole picture. That's what a comparison is

And no, if it needs games that aren't exclusive, then it means it's not self sufficient. XB1 exclusives aren't enough, therefore it needs a crutch of games available on another platform. That's what you're really saying.

A self sufficient platform doesn't need games available on other platforms to stand on its own.

By your logic if every single XB1 game was available on Wii U the XB1 would win against PS4 because its games aren't on PS4...? what? None of that makes any sense whatsoever.

If every single big game like Call of Duty and Batman were on PS4 and Xbox One and not Wii U, I'd definitely call the Wii U the loser....not too far from reality, is it?

I thought COD was on Wii U. I'm not sure anymore, but I thought so.

Supposedly, it still is.  I was just hypothetically speaking.

No, if it appears also on PC it's not exclusive anymore by definition.

There's a few things wrong there.

One, we don't know how much PC versions sell. Digital sales are the majority, unlike consoles.

Two, using sales numbers to try and goal post what is an exclusive isn't a good idea. Otherwise every multiplat on PS4 is an exclusive. I mean, if a game sells X on XB1 and 50% less on PC, then if a game sells X on PS4 and 50% less on XB1... i guess one is a PS4 exclusive and the other is a XB1 exclusive? Seeing as how that's the logic that we are going with...

And multiplats aren't entirely excluded from providing reasons to get a console, because not all of them have PC versions. I'm not gonna name examples because i think they are pretty obvious. And they'll obviously, in those cases, work in favor of the PS4 and act like semi-exclusives or at least sell SOME consoles, more than they would if the game had a PC version.

even if it is released on PC, since that is also something that benefits MS.

No it doesn't

And what's with "i don't play games on a PC"? Sounds like a poor excuse. I don't play games on Nintendo consoles and Xboxes. I guess everything that's released on PS4 is a PS4 exclusive, even multiplats.

Beacause sale of an X1 often means the purchaser didn't buy one of the competing consoles, but it is still probable that he/she owns a PC. The formats aren't in direct competition with each other.
