He can't just make a decision like that. The decision would probably have to be approved by the board of directors and if they don't want it then it won't happen.

Obviously but as a CEO you should have leadership and be able to convince people that this is best for the company. Hr also cant show that he can be pushed around. That being said he should not be too stubborn as well.

One thing is clear, Nintendo won't buy any IP's by themselves. Nintendo is more about personal relationships with developers. If Nintendo were to make and publish a Mega Man game, it's very likely they would want to approach the original creator, who as far as I can recall, left Capcom. That was just an example.

Yep.

It's more like your next thread is going to be your last chance. Mess up and the mods will change your username to lameabe1998. They can do that.

I don't know where this is coming from. Umm... Mess up? Care to elaborate?

Capcom and their IP are not just up for sale, and no one is going to buy them. There is no bidding going on here. No negotiable price. Capcom didn't even have this takeover defense in place until 2007, now they've decided not to renew it. Why did no one buy Capcom before 2007 then?

Just like how they published Bayonetta 2 but not buy the IP. Ninty and Capcom have a good relationship so it should be OK.

Another one of these threads @.@ Buying Capcom as a whole would likely not be a good investment (however, I obviously don't have all of the facts). If it was possible to snag some IPs and maybe a dev studio, that would be a good idea, but I don't think Capcom is willing to be broken apart like that.

Saying this is "Iwata's last chance" is pretty ridiculous...

I is about IPs... but Nintendo also need to have more dev studios, even more than new IPs. And sure, it is more expensive buy shares, but you also buy good working studios not only IP or bankrupt weak studios.

I'm not native english speaker, so I hope you understand me :)

If Capcom was doing great, they wouldn't be in this position. Capcom is pretty huge and has a lot of problems internally. Nintendo taking all of that on would likely not be the greatest idea and be a pretty big mess for them to clean up. I agree that Nintendo needs more dev studios and Capcom's IPs would be great, but the downside is too strong to take this all on. There is also the fact that this would be a takeover, which may go against the wishes of many of Capcom's staff, so who knows how long they would stick around.

Like I said, if Capcom was willing to downsize and sell a dev studio and a few IPs, Nintendo should jump on that, but I don't think Capcom is in that position just yet...

If anyone at Capcom would quit over Nintendo buying the company. That would be really stupid thinking. I can understand people quiting at Rare, because they make Kinect games now. But Nintendo wouldn't just ruin games for no reason. These people stuck around with all the Megaman Resident evil mess ups and hate. They'd have no reason to assume Nintendo would become tyrants.

Not renewing the defense makes it possible for a company to buy out a majority of its shares.

Hostile takeover isn't negotiatable...

@ awesome

Thats right, but misconception that CAPCOM is looking for a buyer and that somehow, someway only Nintendo is the default buyer is wrong. CAPCOM will be preventing any mass purchase of stock as they said they would and Im positive CAP will be turning things around to ensure the can get their defense re approved next meeting.

Nothing will come out of this.

Then why did no one buy out Capcom in 2007 or earlier when I'd argue the company was in a better position? It's expensive and not worth the effort.
