Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft CEO: “Nintendo has to perform this year, otherwise they will have less games”

Ubisoft Montreal didn't make a big-budget exclusive for 360, XBO, PC, PS3 or PS4 either, why should they for Wii U?

In rank 17 is notable Splinter Cell on what console? Yep, the original Xbox. Do you see now how Ubi Montreal games make a difference.

And again, Splinter Cell was no exclusive for Xbox. It was also release for PC, PS2, GC and even Mac.

Ubisoft Montreal plans bigger than for merely one single platform. If Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft want an exclusive for their console, they have to do with one of the other Ubisoft studios.

All other things aside, my main complaint about this is "less games". It's "fewer", not "less".

Ubisoft Montreal is Ubisoft's biggest studio, much like Nintendo EAD is Nintendo's biggest studio. Nintendo puts EAD to work on its U obviously because Nintendo makes the console.

If Ubisoft was serious about paving a business on Nintendo consoles, they would make it a reality.

Ubisoft Montreal had all hands full with the release of Assassin's Creed 3... which Wii U got as launch title (3 weeks after the 360 + PS3 versions, but even before the PC version).

After that they had a full schedule for the multiplatform development of Assassin's Creed 4 for 6 platforms (360, PS3, Wii U, XBO, PS4, PC)... the Wii U version even had a time advantage over the PS4-, XBO- and PC-versions. Additionally they had all hands full with the development of Watch Dogs for 5 - 6 platforms.

Do you really expect them to squeeze in a big budget Wii U exclusive?

haha, I thought the exact same thing when I read it. Oh well, English is the guy's second language so we can't be too critical.

Who knew that Assassin's Creed would be a blockbuster in 2006/7 when it was announced/released.  It was a new IP for the time.  Ubisoft did not have any exclusives permiering on the PS3 either as AC 1 went multiplatform before release and sold better on the 360.  ZombiU IS a blockbuster (costing more than Assassin's Creed did as Yves IP put the cost of AC < 20 mil) for the U and it fell flat on its face.

Assassin's Creed was developed by the Ubisoft Montreal team. It's the same team that came out with Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and now Watch Dogs. That's how we knew it was going to be a blockbuster way before its release.

Zombi U was made by Ubisoft Montpellier, which in the past made Beyond Good and Evil. Sure I like their games, but they aren't blockbusters.

Your argument falls flat on its face. Do you like the sound of your own expressions? Use less biased terms please.

Also, even if Zombi U yielded underperforming revenue, it is ranked 10th in the top 10 WiiU games and sold 700m units.

If Ubisoft pushed the market, what would stop them from making sales of 1m like a WW remake?

A market is paved, it is created. ZombiU actually showed that the console gave promise. They should not have stopped their effort.

Ubisoft Montpellier also houses the Rayman franchise (which, of course, you magically left out) and as someome mentioned in a later thread post, Montreal was busy creating game for multiple systems at the time of ZombiU's release and with Montpellier's expertise on Nintendo systems (which had the exclusive Rabbids go home and the best version of Rayman Legends) they seemed like the best studio to tackle this game.

And yes im sure for the scale and budget that Ubisoft spent on ZombiU (which is a parallel to Assassin's Creed, a new IP for a new generation of systems) the game fell flat on its face while AC went on to be massively successful.  Both had somewhat metacrodire metacritic scores (81 for AC, 77 for ZombiU) but ZombiU had the added benefit of being exclusive to one console, utilize the gamepad better than any launch title and came with a bundle.  Ubisoft has every right to demand more out of nintendo and their console.

Their argument is flawed as fuck, are they giving up the Xbox One while it's currently in third place ? Nope. Of course they go on thinking they can sell better on One than on Wii U, but they're to blame on Wii U, they delay games, say craps, and then complaint. If they just released games same time and with a decent advertisement too it would sell better, but now it is too late, they somehow pissed most people on Wii U even if the Wii U performs well, Ubi's game aside from Just Dance have little chances to perform good.

LOL you should not talk flawed argument as yours is way worse the theirs.

Any X1 game is just a cheaap easy money PS4 port.  That fact destroys your illogical rant.

'lol I dunno what to say but I disagree so I reply' that's what your post says.
Ubi is right on the part where they say when devs will stop supporting PS3/360, Wii U might lose support too.
But, that's clearly proving that NOW no devs have reasons not to port on Wii U if they port on PS3/360. Sales yeah, you all talk numbers hey, some other replies mentionned how a Ubi game sold more on One than on Wii U. Which is true, but doesn't mean it couldn't sell more on Wii U if they weren't so lazy.
XOne are cheap ass ports ? Well man, look at Wii U's port, ACIV is running ridiculously. ACIII's full of glitches I ain't even seeing on other platforms, make the console freeze.
They wanted to work on Wii U, at least that's what they claimed, but porting to make it as crappy as possible isn't supporting the Wii U.

Your 'fact' is destroyed by your no thinking process. If I have to develop what's been said for months in everything I post, I might need extra time out of work.

You can't expect AC IV: BF to run the same way on Wii U and X1. The X1 is far more powerful than a Wii U.

Also publishers publish games only when they sell and turn a large-enough profit. Ubisoft games sell on X1 so they support the platform and they don't sell on Wii U so they don't suppot the platform. Its that simple.

They don't even have a date for Watch Dogs yet? Seriously?

If your talking just unit sales then yes the PS3 did better than Wii U in the first 18 months, however when it comes to money made well...... we know how that worked out for Sony.

Why would Ubisoft base their decisions on where to put software on money made by the platform holder?  Unless they thought there was a risk of PS3 production stopping it didn't really matter to their business.  The Wii made Nintendo a lot more money than the PS2 made Sony, but that didn't stop third parties from selling hundreds of millions more software on the PS2.

LOL they are just throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. His argument didnt even make sense, like Sony finances have anything to do with Ubi.

It blows my mind we are on a sales website and people still come up with nonsense just to prove something wrong that isnt wrong.

and all in all the PS3 did make money for Sony.

But the least you could expect is that it should run equal or better to the ps360 versions, and it didn't. That isn't the Wii U's fault, it is Ubi's fault.
