God I hope not. As much as I love Nintendo, theyre a stubborn ass company. Im mainly a fan due to me loving their popular IPs, it'd be hard being a Nintendo fan of a series that hasnt had a new game since the 90s. The point Im making is, Nintendo ignores a lot of its IPs in favor of Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda. We are JUST getting a new Starfox, and we havent had a new Metroid and other older IPs in years...
IF Nintendo bought Capcom (it'll most likely go to Sony, Sega, etc though) they need to make sure they dont stuff these IPs in an attic for a few decades while fans ask for them :p

Lol why it's always Nintendo fans who are so eager to jump to the "ohhhhh let my Company buy the one on sale" when Nintendo bought the least amount of external studios in this decade.

Well when your internal studios make such high quality and high selling titles why buy external ones ;)?

Should Nintendo buy Capcom? As many have heard, Capcom is now open to buy. If Nintendo jumped on this deal, not only would they get help making some first party games but some other huge game series would become exclusives like Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Megaman, and Devil May Cry. I think Nintendo should take this offer before it passes.

Honestly Nintendo desperately needs more first party studios.  Buying Capcom would get them almost everything they need.  Imagine if Ninendo launched a proper hardcore console in 2017 that had Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, and a megaman reboot as exclusives...

Nice idea, but here is a MUCH better one. Launch in 2020 after the Wii-U has gotten high-end installments of every major Nintendo IP, a few more new ones like Splatoon, and almost every single Capcom IP. Replacing the Wii-U too soon would hurt the brand image, turning it around into the house of many future classices and then releasing the Nintendo Fusion Platform (handheld - home-console hybrid) with full backwards compatibility at the same time as the PS5 and Xbox Circles would be much better. Those who didn't cave to the Wii-U during its life-time could be brought in by that, I'm sure.

If they wait till 2020 Nintendo will be irrelevant in the gaming world, and they will have lost more investors than you can count!

Wow, you missed alot this past month if you still think the Wii-U is 'doomed'. E3 has shown how the Wii U will be profitable by the end of its life even if it merely has 45 million consumers like the Xbox One (kinda want one of those myself too). Its called Amiibo, and it allows players to create camoes and such of their favourite characters in other games. And as if that weren't enough to keep them safe while they rebuild their name by flooding their, presumably underpreforming console with as many hits as one company could fathom doing single handed, Nintendo basically bought itself back from its investors to prevent anyone trying to push for a new console too soon. Thankfully they know their ludology timeline - SEGA died from rushing new consoles. Remember they're planning a fusion console by all accounts, so they need to thoroughly vindicate Wii-U and 3DS purchases. No better way to do that than by flooding them with hits that people will berate themselves from missing.

Your delusional if you think the E3 announcements will make a big difference.  MK8 is the Wii U's biggest release of this generation and it couldn't even beat Watchdogs on the PS4.

No, cause I want capcom games on my PC in full HD glory. Capcom should purchase a few western devs to expand their portfolio like Square Enix or they will die.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Seriously, would Square Enix still exist if they didnt buy off Edios?

For me, it clearly depends on the price of the operation. At a price of 500 M$ I would say yes, at 1 B$, I would say no.
I think Nintendo should buy Level-5 first.

I really hope so but Nintendo does not have cash to spare :(

Nintendo has billions in the bank. They literallly do have plenty of cash to spare.

The question is, even if they bought Capcom outright, and Capcom could only make games exclusively for their systems from now on, how much of an impact/return on Nintendo's investment, would they really get from Capcom's games?

It's an interesting problem. Personally,  I think NIntendo were fools for not buying Hudson Soft, and keeping that company alive. Konami just absorbed it, killed it off, and have done jack diddly shit with their great properties ever since. Nintendo and Hudson had a great relationship dating back to the NES days. Even when Hudson was the main supporter of the TG16, a direct competitor to Nintendo's consoles, they were still making games for NES/GB/SNES. That really speaks volumes to how good the relationship was between the two. And they always supported Nintendo's systems more than any other, with N64, GC, Wii, etc. Bomberman was put on everything under the sun, but most of their other retail games saw release on Nintendo consoles, usually. And of course there was their hand in creating the Mario Party franchise as well. It just sucks that now Hudson, one of my favorite developers, is now effectively dead because Konami are morons.

But all around, I think there are much more sound and wise company investments Nintendo could/should make. Instead of a big fish like Capcom, Nintendo should buy up some of their smaller partners, such as Level-5, and Next Level Games, and Monster Games, and Platinum, and Good-Feel, and just for fun, Vanillaware, etc.

That's one of Nintendo's biggest mistake : their lack of ambition. I don't understand why they prefer partnerships over acquisitions, which would give them more exclusives while expanding the company with talented people.

I think that Nintendo HAS to buy Level-5 soon, because franchises such as Professor Layton and Youkai Watch are really important for Nintendo. Moreover, Level-5 make high quality RPG games, such as Ni no Kuni and Fantasy Life. I don't understand how a successful partnership like this one still hasn't turned into an acquision... Losing this partnership would be a disaster for Nintendo in the Japanese market.

well they let RARE go all those years ago and then THQ went by and then ATLUS there is a pattern here..

The decision to sell Rare was genius. Nintendo knew that most of the best employees in Rare already left the company yet still managed to get 300 million out of the deal and offload them to a competitor.
