Whenever the question, "Should Nintendo buy X company" is raised, my answer will always be "yes." Their software output has been a shadow of its former self since they lost RARE, damn them, and they need something, anything to help fill that void.

YESS!!
Nintendo is the Best company to develop the Megaman Games that the world needs!!

Around the Network

Definitely YES!
Monster Hunter will continue to thrive, Megaman will be reborn, Street Fighter will hopefully slow down with the constant releases, Devil May Cry may find a sliver of hope, and most of all old IPs will be renewed.... maybe.
I just want a new Power Stone.

But Im sure Nintendo will buy them like how they bought Atlus.......

I hope so, and they should. Also, it's possible since Nintendo wants to buy and Capcom wants to sell. I wouldn't doubt this has been in the works for some time, since Nintendo announced that buy-back some time ago. Nintendo needs Monster Hunter on its handhelds, and they need more content - especially mature content - on its home consoles. Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, etc, would compliment Nintendo's current lineup and bring with it dedicated fans to expand the Wii U (and beyond) user base. Classic titles like Mega Man, etc could also be milked by nostalgia-savy Nintendo. It would be a great fit.

Nintendo wants to buy Capcom-  have they stated that in the past or is there reasonably reliable information to that effect out there in the news somewhere?

Nintendo wants to buy something, I didn't say Capcom. Nintendo did a share buy back in preparation for a merger or acquisition. Capcom is now open to a takeover. Capcom is worth about 1.5 billion dollars US, Nintendo has about 8 billion in cash and available assets. Nintendo needs more capacity and some titles to draw in mature fans; and they also can't afford to lose Monster Hunter. It's a great fit. But no, Nintendo didn't say they wanted to buy Capcom specifically.

I misread the sentence - sorry about that -   I do remember Iwata saying they are looking for acquisitions

i wonder how much of thier value is IP v there dev studios and similar type assets - could Nintendo absorb thier dev assets and make them work?

I say that Nintendo should go for it. Most of the arguments I put forward for why Nintendo should buy SEGA can apply just as well to Capcom. Capcom has a set of franchises that have good resonance with Nintendo IPs, and then Capcom has a set of franchises that fill gaps in Nintendo's stable of IPs. Capcom is a brand that would do well as the "mature" brand for Nintendo to publish their less family-friendly games under, and Capcom's developers are talented but would benefit from Nintendo's brand of QA.

Monster Hunter is an obvious benefit for Nintendo. Mega Man would finally get to make a comeback. Having the classic Street Fighter type fighting games alongside the Smash Bros style ones would give good coverage of the fighting genre. Resident Evil could, with Nintendo's QA, be made such a strong franchise that it dwarfs most other popular franchises and rivals CoD, in my opinion.

As a side note, Kamiya would probably be overjoyed - pretty much all of his franchises would be owned or part-owned by Nintendo, who appear to be more than willing to support his game ideas. Devil May Cry, Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Wonderful 101 would all be owned by Nintendo, while Bayonetta would be a franchise that Sega sound happy for Nintendo to publish games in. Plus, Kamiya also worked on multiple Resident Evil games.

Yes. Being me Megaman X Metroid.

No.Capcom has millions of fans who don't play Nintnendo and their games have sold best on PlayStation.

this is a stupid argument. When Finaal Fantasy shifted to PS1 all the Square fans went to playstation. If peole REALLY ARE FANS of Capcom they will follow htem to a Nintendo platform. Otheriwse Capcom don't mean much to them as they claim.
