It is not Nintendo's fault that Gamespy, the company running the Nintendo online services, ceased operation.

There are already ways to continue playing all affected games online but in order to do that you need to modify your game and console.

Somehow I've managed to miss the announcements. When I said "they have announced it some time ago", in responce I heard:

it's not terrorizing, it's business and wanting to dedicate more resources to making sure MK8 works well (which so far, it does--launch day aside I haven't been getting randomly kicked and there's been minimal lag/other issues that I've noticed).

and they're not going to do a price-cut any time soon, there was an interview with Reggie where he pretty much said that (not sure if someone mentioned it but yeah). just save up money and buy consoles like normal people (it's still much cheaper than the PS4 or Xbone, you can find Wii U's as cheap as $200 if you check, and MK8 comes with a free game so it's well worth the price... not to mention you can find it for $48 on Amazon apparently and the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii to boot)

We still think it's unfair.

A price cut this year is mandatory, it's already been long enough on the market. If Nintendo ever hopes to sell more consoles, they need to throw us a bone.

I don't like online content in the e-store without any account system. Games attached to the console? Bullshit! No way I'm ever buying anything in it. Moreover I seriously doubt this special ofer works in my country. Nintendo blocks Internet in general in its consoles in Poland, I have to work aroung their blockade to use it :(

Just get a 3DS if you don't think a Wii U is worth it (yet). It's cheaper, has Mario Kart 7, plus great online, too. And a way better library as well, right now.

In USA you can buy a refurb Wii U system from Nintendo for $200.  My PC I bought was a refurb (saved me about 200-300 dollars).

Not sure about Poland but Nintendo of Europe probably sells refurb systems on their online store.  Just check the Nintendo online store.  The refurb systems come with a one year warranty just like the new ones.

They were like "Here this is our new NES in roughly 30 years a game called MarioKart Wii will get its servers shut down because the company that runs those servers will restructure. You ask what servers are? Wait for the internet to be invented please"

So everyone knew this for decades :)       The servers were shut down by gamespy because gamespy was bought a while ago.
