If he said the wii u and xbone were competing and left out PS4 he'd have an argument.

I just don't see this generation of consoles making it to a 80mil, 81mil and 100mil finish. At most the combined totals I'm guessing will be about two thirds of that. Maybe 65, 59, 41? Reggie probably meant to say that the numbers of consoles sold are close to each other but not taking in to consideration that Wii U has been out a year longer than the other two consoles.

It would look even more worse if he said no comment. He would have probably been better off if he said that "I think that the Nintendo gamers will push the Wii U through this generation as we keep releasing more content onto the Wii U. But we are also making the Wii U more interesting to other gamers with games like Bayonetta, Hyrule Warrior, Devil's Third, W101, and hopefully more in the future. Putting all this together, we think that the Wii U stands a good chance in the console race."


that was perfect. They should hire you to write for Reggie he sucks at this

Maybe he's combining Wii U and 3DS...

PS4 at same point in time as Xbox One: 7,877,802
Wii U + 3DS at same point in time as Xbox One: 7,748,112

Sorry, what?


Actually he is right. There is only 4M between the 3 consoles.... but if you add a timescale to it, it's doesn't look great for the Wii U. 6M sold over 18 months and over taken by the PS4, a console that released a whole year later, within months of launch.

I love Nintendo and despite his flaws I like Iwata. But Reggie is awful, slimy PR guy.

Thats good, but what he should have done is side step the question all together.  He should have said, "With the Wii U we are far more focused on bringing quality products with supurb games to our loyal fans than trying to chase sales...
