How is possible for the Wii U to sell this bad? I guess the market is finally reacting to the saturation of consoles. If this is the trend then we won't see 3 main home consoles for long.

This is my analysis:

1. The age of owning multiple consoles is over. People want to play all their games on 1 and only 1 console. Similar to DVD and Blu-ray players. People don't want to buy a new BR player just to watch movies published by Sony then buy another to watch other exclusive movies. This IS the future.

2. Casuals don't want the Wii U. In fact, I think casuals are done playing console-based games unless VR takes off and becomes accessible.

3. Sony and MS gamers don't want to be taxed in addition to buying games at MSRP. The Wii U is a tax on gamers. It makes no sense to buy two consoles for the average consumer.

IMHO :

(1)- WiiU is too expensive for the place in the market it resides in. It's a 'fun' family/2nd console type of player. At this point it really needs to be $199. I fully believe the sales would be immensely better at that price point (too bad that stupid tablet kept them from getting there yet).

(2)- See (1)

(3)- As for this NPD, I think they lost a fair amount of sales by not having enough MK8 bundles available. I couldn't find one, and I wanted to buy one.

You may or may not be correct, but I agree with you, because I certainly don't have the need for more than one console. I actually think it's also not just a function of money, but also of time. Very few people actually have enough spare time to spread it across two consoles.

There is a dedicated hardcore gamer segment that might still purchase 2, or even all 3 consoles, and most of them reside at various forums, so the perception of multi-console owners seems higher, when in probability they are a very very tiny percentage of all consumers.

oh well

LTD
DKC: Tropical Freeze [WiU] 258k
Lightening Returns FF [PS3] 135k [360] 71k
PVZ: Garden Warfare [XB1] 257k [360] 150k
FF10HD [PS3] 259k
South Park SoT [360] 279k [PS3] 228k
Titanfall [XB1] 969k [360] 559k
Dark Souls 2 [360] 212k [PS3] 209k
Infamous SS [PS4] 617k
MGSV: Ground Zeroes [Total] 357k [PS4] >179k

I think it's pretty obvious why we haven't gotten any numbers about Titanfall One, looking at those numbers.  1M is nothing to scoff at, but it is definitely below what it should have sold, considering the game was hyped to high heaven (GOTY/GOTG) and touted as the savior of the One.  If we take VGC's numbers for the rest of the world, and adjust to the correct US numbers, it currently sits at 1.62M WW.  Wonder how long it will take to pass 2M WW, as its dead outside of US and UK.

And not sure if creamsugar said anything about it, but I wonder if Infamous outsold it, again.

dont forget:

that titanfall numbers are without the bundles

inklusing the bundles its at 1.35 or anything like that

ss sold some more, than titanfall standalone.

but titanfall standalone + bundle > ss

Wow, I did not expect it to be so low 0_o (WiiU)

Perhaps now people will stop proclaiming it has "second place on lockdown" the truth is the bump was likely around 100k that week.

Maybe it's time to make a thread where adjusted/verified sales get posted? Really no point in looking the numbers on the front page anymore, with Vita being 5 times as high as VGC numbers, and Wii-U being half.

I was waiting for you to see this lol. Turns out Wii U couldn't beat XB1 this NPD with its biggest game of the year and with people waiting on a $399 XB1.

Well. It is America so not overly surprising. Still, with the biggest game as you said, WiiU has made very small inroads, which will be all but gone by now thanks to $399 sku.

I'm just amazed WiiU saw such a small boost in US, UK and Japan. France was a great boost, but is that indicitive of a Europe wide boost? If it isn't then MK week could well be around the 100k mark like I suggested weeks ago. Thus sustaining about 100k weekly like many said is unlikely.

Stop dreaming, PLEASE.

Read the topic carefully and see how those people are talking about the amount of days it had in May and how we now have to wait to see June's numbers too!
