Forums - Nintendo - I just finished my first Zelda (WWHD)

When I bought my Wii U a few months ago, it came bundled with ZWWHD. I wasn't going to play it but then the VGC member spemanig demanded that I gave it a go. So I did.

First, I always thought that Zelda & Metroid are two Nintendo IP's that are so overhyped IMO. I never understood what is so amazing about them. I tried Metroid Prime 3 back in 2008 because (again) it was recommended by a VGC member. (Forget who) It was boring, hard, and annoying. Never again will I buy another Metroid game...

As for Zelda? It was surprisingly satisfying. While I believe Nintendo does have multiple IP's that are better, it's pretty good. (At least Windwaker) I enjoyed the story, and the characters. The gameplay was a bit lacking though. (!!!) It was fun but nothing special. There were too many things that I had to do that felt...unneeded. (Example: Find random squid to get more energy or you're doomed)

Overall, I'm now a (casual) Zelda fan and will likely buy Zelda U once it's released. Thanks spemanig!

I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! It's personally my favorite game of all time lol but almost every game has it's flaws. I'm so glad it got you more into the Zelda franchise, though! Did you like the combat? That's really my favorite part of it because I feel like it's really kinesthetically satisfying. It just feels good to me.

Didn't you say SS was your favourite 3D Zelda?

What do you think about Hyrule Warriors?

I'm probably going to buy it within the first week of release. When the game was first announced, I was like "heck no" but it now looks really good. Normally, the beat em up style doesn't appeal to me but I want to try new genres and widen my game diversity with Wii U.

The combat was great. I thought it was interesting how there was a different strategy for each enemy you came in contact with.

Try 2D Metroids for a real Metroid experience.

For me 2D Metroids and 3D Metroids can barelly have the same name.

No lol it's one of my least favorites. I think everything it does good, it does better than any other Zelda game to date, but everything else it does worse.

Wind Waker

Majora's Mask

Ocarina of Time

Skyward Sword

Twilight Princess

"Never again will I buy another Metroid game..."

That makes me very sad...at least play Super Metroid ;~;

I do have Super Metroid on the Wii U (through the Wii mode) because my brother wanted it. (Then never played it) Maybe I'll try it as my next VGC recommendation. People throughout the thread are telling me to try 2D Metroid.

Why metroid prime 3 ? its the worst metroid game!

It was recommended by a VGC member...and on sale at Walmat.

Also, if you have a 3DS you should try A Link Between Worlds eventually so that you can experience some Top-down Zelda as well! If no 3DS try A Link to the Past. I think you'll like it.

I should make it clear that I like every Zelda game I've played lol. Like they're all great to me. Twilight Princess is an 80 to me. I have a lot of criticisms and I think its the most mediocre 3D Zelda, but it's no Other M lol.

But yeah, I think it's the worst by far. Skyward Sword is an 85 to me, and it just goes up. OoT is a 90, MM is a 92, and WW is a 96.

I do. I might have to try it. My friend already has the game so maybe I'll borrow it from him when he's done. I'm not too fond of HH gaming though. (Compared to consoles)
