If Borderlands was successful, Destiny will be even more successful. Easily +10 million on all platforms.

The Alpha opens on Thursday on the PS4, however.

A "flop" is only a relative notion. |
It is relative, hence i mentioned both areas it would be judge by.
We do also have to remember that Activision are quite obviously trying to build a franchise with Destiny. If for example it sold 12 million copies, Activision may see it as a short term failure but a long term success. They will have lost money on the initial title, but will have built a pretty powerful new IP in the process.

I cannot see it selling less than 12 million copies based on all the anticipation.

?
The detailed revenue model for Destiny is not fully known. Right now some modes at least do require the PSN/Live subscription and there is obviously a specific agreement between the platform providers and the publishers on sharing part of the sub fee and part of the control of the revenue models. Otheriwse how could a publisher financially sustain a persistent universe to keep evolving ?
My prediction about Destiny becoming free-to-play later simply means that the entry price will be non-existent at some point in 2016, meaning you can download the game and play at leat part of it for free.
Looks like all the boring features of modern "hardcore" gaming thrown into one game.
I sure hope it flops, for the sake of gaming, but you never know. I mean, the modern "hardcore" gamers will buy any crap that the industry puts out today. Maybe this will be the ultimate game for them....
I LOVE ICELAND!

Well, hopefully someday you'll realize I have absolutely no preference for a brand.
My opinion on Destiny's success is genuine. The ambition with this game was phenomenal, but it will obviously end up suffering of the duck syndrome : it can fly, it can swim, it can walk, but it isn't exceptionnal at any of them.
The graphical clarity and the universe/story seem top-notch to me. It is really the gameplay that has me worried.
MMO : From what has been shown it is a very light MMO, and the missions are repetitive. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the dynamic aspect of the universe such as the introduction of the Death Star, this is why I might revise my prediction end of June.
And the competitive FPS component where Bungie should have been excellent really has me worried. Destiny is taking the opposite approach to Halo 2 : unbalanced PvP.
It's hard to say... All those Sony fans drooling over a White.... PS4 for some odd reason.... like come on, it's a PS4. People are talking about going to buy a second one or sell their current one just to get a white PS4 that kind of looks like a Wii but slanted... lol
