Forums - Gaming - So the Gap Has Disappeared...

Xbox has a weaker GPU and its a fact. I think X1 will close the gap a bit, but PS4 will always have a few things better(framerate/AA/draw distance/ect). The reason I think the gap will close is X1 seems to be the harder system to work on this gen so the advances on X1 will make more of a difference.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I dont know about the graphics being better than the PS4 but I had no doubt that the X1 would sooner than later match the PS4 in that department. So the next thing will be Sony fanboys will say " Oh yeah, well my game is at 60fps and your is only at 30!" Na,na,na,na! Even though the human eye can't discern anything more that 24 fps. That is why movies are shot that way. Sigh.....

Huh? "Movies are shot that way" (24fps) because back in the early days of the movie industry film stock was (and still is) very expensive. 24 frames per second was considered the bare minumum frame speed to display a moving picture while consuming the least amount of film stock. It had nothing to do with some maximum threshold of what the human eye can discern.

As for video games, 60fps (vs 30) also has advantages for certain genres of games (i.e. racing, fighting) where very fast screen refresh to controller input is required.

click bait thread :/

lol Nope

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

How cute, Xbox fans love Destiny now. Pity they aren't getting a bundle.

More like devs aren't optimizing for PS4 hardware. Devs build games to run on the least powerful console and then go from there. I doubt you'll ever be seeing Naughty Dog-caliber graphics on the Xbox One.

Then how do you explain the fact that the technical gap was wider a few months ago ?

Also, are you implying the lead build is on the least powerful console ? ("Devs build games to run on the least powerful console and then go from there.")

Developers are never going to make a game too powerful to run on a weaker console. That's a given. And devs rarely add any more effects to the stronger console. Maybe slightly better AA, but nothing major that could really set them apart.

And we are still seeing games that are graphically better on the PS4, so waht's your point?

If that were true The Hobbit with 48 FPS wouldnt look different as the Hobbit with 24 fps. But apparently people can see the difference easily. Some disliking the change some welcoming it.

Difference between 60 and 30 is easily visible. Ever tried an Oculus Rift everything less than 60 makes you puke (literally). Ideal would be 1000 FPS. 120fps and Hz is visible and also the inputlag is noticable. 30 and 60 fps is a huge difference. Please quote the source and the studies regarding 24 fps is the max the human eye can see because its wrong and there is no source. 24 fps is enough to percieve a series of pictures as fluidly moving but its far from ideal.

When all mutiplats will be equally good on both sides, and this is not going to happen, xbone fans will just be able experience what ps owners had from day one.
I think though we are going to see a gap sales of about 6million for 31 December so i assume most devs will prioritize ps4, and this kind of priority system will increase in 2015. I expect a lot of minor third parties going exclusively ps4 next e3.

I assume most of this is going to happen if xbone doesn't win june or july npd. If it wins at least one month i'm willing to change my mind, if it doesn't it's over.

I think you are missing a few datapoints:

1 - We do not know what kind of demands Destiny (or the next Battlefield) places on a system

2 - Having equal resolution could also mean that the XB1 version made other sacrifices (lower quality AA, lower resolution shadows and reflections, other missing effects)

3 - As usual the XB1 version may have sharper frame rate drops in the more demanding scenes or the XB1 version of a game may target 30 fps and the PS4 target 60fps (like Tomb Raider:DE)

All in all I can't doubt things improved for the XB1 version of cross platform titles, but it remains a weaker machine... however it does seem like the differences are less stark than they were early on! which is great for those that have this machine...

Still, have you seen Uncharted 4? Infamous:SS? The Order 1886? all the first party AAA Sony titles look miles ahead of anything crossplatform or dedicated to the XB1, not only that but they perform really well on the PS4 too!
