Forums - Sony - Sony should take a page from Nintendo

This will be my last thread about the issue, but I wanted to bring a comparison between Sony and Nintendo in that regard. Nintendo has two main current consoles, 3DS and Wii U. You can say Sony has 3 consoles, PS4/PS3/PSV. What I think is admirable about Nintendo is that they are still fighting with the Wii U despite it selling much less than the 3DS. The 3DS prints money and the Wii U is struggling, but Nintendo has fought and turned it around and made Wii U sell extremely well recently. This shows that Wii U has potential to really sell well, but needs a big title to make it take off. What's sad about it is Sony would go to any lengths to make one console the focus and forget about the others. That's what I think they should emulate from Nintendo (aside from SSB and PS Move/ Wiimote :P).

I can agree with the bolded whole heartedly.  I will not be buying a PS4 or playstation anything because of the way I have been treated as a Vita owner.

How can it struggle and sell extremely well at the same time? lol

I thought it was impressive that it sold 190K the week of MK8. I never expected MK8 to create a boost, but it did.

It's been struggling for a while, but sold extremely well in recent times. I am of course talking about the boost it had, but no telling how long it'll last. I think Wii U does have the potential to move a considerable amount of hardware, but it depends on if Nintendo is willing to make that push.

You didn't expect the biggest IP that Nintendo has to create a boost? You must have lowered your expectations to nothing.

3DS 21,025 26,574 24,002 78,397
someone didn't check the weekly numbers in a while I guess

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

What really pisses me off about Sony is how badly they are treating the poor Vita... Like this is completely unacceptable. The wiiU is doing shit on sales yet Nintendo proves to us once again that they will give it their all to try and save the console or at least give the fans the games they will love but with Sony on the other hand, the ps4 is doing excellent but the vita is doing piss poor but what does Sony do? They hope that a third party will come and save the Vita cause they don't want to do it themselves.

Heck, some of the best games on the vita are third party. Heck, the best game on the vita imo is Persona 4 Golden, a ps2 port that has been remastered for the vita with additional content and it is an excellent game yet that is so sad at the sametime... I really hope the Vita gets turned around in the future cause it does have some awesome jrpgs but if Sony is gonna treat it this badly, then they deserve the low sales!

/rant

(Sorry if I offended anyone, I think Sony is a great company and I love my ps3 to death but I just don't like how Sony has been acting with the Vita)

His point remains. I mean, they even changed Vita TV name to PS TV. They are just abandoning the mark.

On the other hand, considering Sony financials, this is not the time to compromise their game division profits. Maybe it is the only way.
