It hits who was in first when it was launched. (were you first always?)

Additionally, it travels the ground now and may bulldoze through other players on its way to first.

It doesn't target anyone specifically until it gets a certain distance near whoever's in first at the time. From that point on is when it doesn't matter what position the targeted person is in. And as you can see from the video I was in the first the entire time up to that point.

Haha that's true, I remember MKDS when that distance was really, really short... You could wait for the last three seconds before you let the driver behind you get in front of you and then he got hit.

Yep.

Around the Network

Was this online? How do you get Mario Kart TV off of your online?

Most of my offline races have been fairly standard, but i've had a few epic online races (including another where something similar to the OP happened, where i managed to overtake 1st place after the blue shell was fired and it still hurt them and not me, and actually locked me into first for the rest of the race)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It happened yet again! Pause at 0:30 and notice the guy on the right with the Bowser Kite! Thankfully we're both on the same team so it didn't matter, infact it was better that I got hit!

Is there a way to report bugs like this?

If there is then I don't know of it, but I did post this onto Miiverse.

Yep it was online! MKTV automatically records your last 12 outings, regardless of where or what it is, and during the results you can press the + button to save as favorite, of which you can have 6 of.
