Forums - Gaming - Naughty Dog has a new IP in the works

My heart skipped a bit. Fortunately nothing indicates specifically a New IP. Naughty Dog needs to be working on something based in The Last of Us universe, not some new IP.

After Henning and Richmond departure I'm even ok with the idea of leaving Uncharted after UC4 and then work on something they want to. But TLoU has absolute priority. I don't want to wait a whole gen to get another game.

I disagree. The Last of Us doesn't need a sequel, especially not for the sake of it.

They never said it was a new IP. I hope it is, though.

But It's probably TLoU 2.

As a non-Playstation owner you have nothing to say in this regard, so there's that

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

That doesn't mean anything. I've beaten a huge number of playstation exclusives!!

@op - unknown game means announced not new ip

@wright - i haven't played TLoU yet (i know, lynch me now) but as far as i'm concerned whtever naughty dog wants to do is the right decision. if they feel TLoU has more story to tell then bring it on. if they think the story is complete and they have something else they would rather show that is great too. naughty dog has shown some of best ability in the world at being able to create a new universe so if they move on from a loved game i still know it will be high quality. frankly, the idea of making every game a new ip (like QD and team ICO do) is very appealing to me.  but more of and awesome thing is aslo great.

I agree. Although, if they can come up with something amazing for a sequel they better do it!

they're doing TLOU HD, Uncharted 4, and an unknown game (could be anything)

"Wells further confirmed that the newest revelation out of the studio – that The Last of Us leads Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann are leading Uncharted 4’s development -- shouldn’t affect the production of the second, still-unknown game"

Well "the second, still-unknown game" TLOU isn't an an unknown game. so there's probably U4 and two other unknown games.

that doesn't mean there's a second unknown game, it means that the second game they are working on (excluding the remaster) is unknown. so it's just Uncharted 4 and an unnanounced game

Seriously though. It doesn't need to be a direct sequel (not that I wouldn't want that as well) since I hear from a lot of people that TLoU was a perfect standalone game and a sequel would ruin it somehow (O_o) but the universe has huge potential and there can be countless other stories told within it. There could be as well a prequel, telling the story of early Joel which sounds super interesting. There could be a lot of genres which would fit the games, another TPP action adventure game, full out survival horror, RPG, open world game, MMO.

Fortunately the game sold big enough numbers that I hope, even if ND would not want to work on another game, Sony would simply force it, as it's an IP with potential of easily selling well north of 5 million copies. But Sony done stranger things in it's history, so I can never be sure...

Well, in my honest opinion The Last of Us doesn't really need a sequel. That doesn't mean anything, though, as I also felt that Max Payne 2 didn't really need a sequel and I was kinda exceptical when Rockstar released Max Payne 3, but after playing it I admit I had a blast with it.

If ND chooses to release a sequel I'll be happy with it, even if it doesn't met the expectations set by the first entry on the franchise (or if it actually surpases). I'm just stating that I would rather prefer U4, Jak and Daxter whatever new thing or a rather brand new game :P

Read what I wrote to Kitler, though :P
