Forums - Sony - Multplats sell better than Sony exclusives on Playstation?!

What does this mean for the PS4's future prospects this generation?

Is this generation a repeat of the 6th generation? With Xbox having more 3rd party and Nintendo having less?

Discuss.

Doomed to get third party games

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Obviously... Third Party is the main reason to get a Sony/MS console if you don't have a gaming PC and I think this will be a repeat of the 7th gen just in different order

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Nope. A repeat of 7th gen. You're not going to see the kind of GTA 3 exclusives the PS2 had at all.

it was the same with PS3 until the really big first party games came out

What should this mean for the PS4s future? This has basically always been like this for PS consoles (aside from maybe the PS1), nothing bad about this at all.

I do hope for a couple new 5-6mil+ seller franchises from Sony this gen though, fingers crossed for The Order being the first.

nothing surprise at all as it has been such case for so many years unless it happen on Nintendo platform...

ps4 has 4 multiplats above its best selling exclusive
xb1 has 3 multiplats above its best selling exclusive

not much difference

Not all 1st party sony games will be appealing to gamers. Playstation has variety something for everyone which translates to HW sales, which is the bigger picture. But yes big and hyped 3rd party games sell a ton more than some sony 1st party exclusives.

The Playstation has always been 'the third party box'. Its why Sony and Nintendo are both gonna fighting for far longer than SEGA and Microsoft will be combined.
