Forums - Gaming - Are Final Fantasy 10 fans hypocrites?

FFX had:

-Towns (HUGE difference)

-Backtracking

-Branching paths

-Underwater levels

-Puzzles

-Side-missions (beyond hunts)

-Collectibles

-Mini games

-Secret areas

-A more customizable level-up system

-Interesting NPCs to talk to

-A comprehensible (even good) story

-Better characters...

It really can't be compared to FFXIII.

This is why, OP.

I may be a minority, but FFX was the second worst FF game I ever played. I hated it. through and through, which brings me to my most hated FF game ever. FF13. I hated 10 and hated 13 more cause it was an inferior 10.

My best FFs are FF9, FF3, FF12, FF8 and FF7 in that order.

Even with the linear nature of a huge chunk of the game...

1) Shit was explained to you, and shit actually made sense
2) You had Blitzball to take the edge off
3) Characters had more than one dimension, the only dimension anyone aside from Sazh/Lightning know.

etc.

It's a far more engrossing and involving experience.

I think Final Fantasy fans in general are hypocrites.

Final Fantasy XIII has Sazh, so

FF XIII > FF X

The problem with that post you quoted is I'm ignoring why all the fans think it's good.  I'm only pointing out the fact that a lot of people mention time and time again that Final Fantasy 13 is a 20 hour hallway when Final Fantasy 10 is also a long hallway with a little more content to it.  It's not about any of either games contents, it's about the one complaint that commonly keeps getting brought up about 13 yet the same complaint could also be used for Final Fantasy 10.

I'm not a fan of either game, each game has many things wrong with them, but the one similar problem with both is that there are long instances in which they are point A to point B and there are a lot of Final Fantasy 10 fans that adore the game and use that same complaint for FInal Fantasy 13.  Hence this topic.  I'm certain people will say that they've never said as such or try and divert other things such as the additional gameplay segments to dissuade that but I'm just pointing out what is most likely undoubtedly true for most of the fanbase that loves FF10 and hates 13.

But, you can say the Point A to point B argument in almost every single Final Fantasy game.

I don't like both FFX and FFXIII.

Or just about any JRPG, but these two games give more of a feel that you're doing nothing but going in a straight line than most others do.  It's mostly because the lack of an overworld, but there are games that lack of an overworld and still make it seem more explorative than these games.

FFX is pretty bad and FFXIII is worse. They are very similar. Only thing FFX really has over XIII is the music. Other than that it's not a very good game. A lot wrong with that game is similar issues in XIII
