i think super nintendo is better because i just like the way games were made back then. games started changing somewhere in the 5th/6t gen, but i t really wanst until the 6th that games started becoming waaaaay too realistic. the ps2 was just really really uninspiring to me. it felt like it took away what made games so fun and good. well, not that the ps2 did it, but the time period did it. it makes me sad. look at the xbox, that machine has nothing but shooting, sports, gritty realism, and gore. it was cool at the time, but i think gaming has trended in that direction for far too long. it does, however, seem like a larger variety of games started to come out in the 7th gen. but anyway, my main point is that i have a problem with 6th gen in general, and that is that it is so uninspiring to me with all of its boring realistic games. none of it was really all that fun. something was lost. all that being said, yes, i see how the ps2 really is one of the greatest.

What????? The PS2 had a lot of fantastic non-realistic original games, you forget games like Okami, Dragon Quest VIII, Kingdom Hearts games, Sly, Ratchet, Dark Cloud games, SMT Nocturne, Persona 3/4, ICO, Katamari games, FFX, FFXII, Jak & Daxter,Disgaea, Shadow of the Colossus, Psychonauts and many more.

Yep for me PS2 followed closely by the SNES with PS1 in a close third place.

my Ps2's lens and drive got busted cause of GTA Vice City , bought a slim just to play FFXII at Persona 4

im not going to say that all the games you listed are not fantasy type games, but if you look at them, they resemble real life a lot. of course something like shadow of the colossus for instance cannot happen in real life, but if you look at it, most of the time youre in the game, it looks like something that is depicted in real life. the only thing really fantastical about that game are the oversized monsters. and a lot of the games i was thinking of whn i wrote that is like red dead, red faction, gta, shooting games.. but you did bring up a lot of other great examples like okami, ratchet, and jak and daxter. i will give you that.

also, rpgs are rpgs. they have always been kind of the same.

If we leave the SNES aside, then yes! The PS2 is also my favorite console of all time! Its library of games is simply so amazing!

Not saying its bad but its overrated 

The Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii are the best consoles so far in my opinion. The library of amazing games is huge: the DS can play both DS and GBA games, and the Wii can play Wii, GC, and Virtual Console games (but has the Virtual Console been shut down now on Wii?).

i liked kigdom hearts, shadow of colossus, gta.
but it cant compete with SNES with its dkc, super metroid, zelda, megaman x, sunset riders, mario world, top gear,rocknroll racing,
they appeld me more at the time.
