I just read this: http://www.xe360.com/article/Halo_3/3837.html

Is it really feasible?

If that has any truth to it, the Wii might pass the 360 before halo comes out, but by friggin god, the 360 will walk all over it for the holiday months.

(what I mean is there will be many many many million consoles bought during that period)

It depends how many people already bought a X360 and have preordered Halo 3

meh. I bet Halo 3 will sell well, and for the wrong reasons, just like Halo2. Halo2 was terrible, it didnt even have a proper ending, and the arbiter quests were boring as hell. The multiplayer maps werent as fun as well... The only good thing about it was Online multiplayer, but that still doesnt justify how it got so many good reviews, even though its basically universally known as being a modiocre game.

Wow. If this is true and let's say 1m of those are people who don't own a 360, I might need to realign my predictions....Hmm. I won't, but we will see in Nov/Dec.

Thanks for giving us all your opinion and stating it as fact. I thought the ending to Halo 2 was brilliant. It shows a move to more epic and cinematic gameplay storytelling. Expect more games like Mass Effect to follow the same Shakespearean 3-act  storytelling arc in the future.

Obviously I'm not the only one who feels this way. If a game dev has a long story to tell, I don't mind receiving a cliffhanger at the end of act 2, no more than I minded it when Lucas used that methodology in Empire Strikes Back.

I find it interesting that they've been taking preorders since 2005 yet most games do not allow preorders until 4-5 months prior to its release. I still cannot preorder MP3 or SSBB right now. Still, this is definitely great news for MS. No denying that. The reason why Halo sells so well is and has always been the multiplayer. Bungie was known for their awesome multiplayer way back in the day when Halo was called "Marathon" and was a sprite based vectorish game. I had a grand ol' time editing Marathon maps. This makes me all the more hopeful for an online multiplayer mode in MP3. If Nintendo has ANY sense at all, they'd give us an online multiplayer Wii FPS. If Halo has proven ANYTHING, it's that people will buy a game just for multiplayer, even if it means setting up LAN parties.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

It's on Bungie's homepage, the 5 millionth unique Halo 2 user logged in yesterday.

Just as a question, if you had an XBox Live account with the XBox and an XBox Live Gold account with the XBox 360 would that be one account or two seperate accounts? Is it possible to have multiple users on a single XBox/XBox 360?

Question 1: No. You had the ability to carry over your original Xbox account on the 360.

Question 2: Yes, but you have to pay for each user's Gold account. I can't think of a good reason for one person to have two Gold accounts on the same Xbox.

I would say yes, It is possible, If owners of the xbox 360 were xbox players that love the game this would be feasable, but then again if the majority isnt then it might help push systems upon release.

I kinda doubt the 4 million pre-orders, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the vicinity of 3 million. Remember Sony having a press release saying God of War 2 had over 1 million plus pre-orders? According to NPD in March, that game sold less than 900,000 copies. But, without a doubt, Halo 3 will be huge. It's the most anticipated title this year, I think.
