As much as I love those small details I'd rather see Polyphony focus on their driving, more different cars, AI and the career system. Polyphony never dissapoint but the more I read into the level of details they put in DC the more I think they should've spent more time with what's relevant and that's the cars and handling... sure the environment is important but at some point, some details become useless... was this game delayed to add wet leaves and 3D clouds? Will these make it a better game with only 50 cars? I mean, maybe a little more talk on the handling and less on the subtle graphics would be appreciated... I hope at E3 we will see more of what the gameplay is about than how many trees there are in the mountain.
Don't take this as a rant, more like questions that needs to be answered before talking about those small details. My bro is getting a PS4 next month and I will be interested in buying games, but if the handling and career mode are lacking, no amount of details will push me to purchase when the title will be given for free.

Driceclub isn't made by Polyphony Digital. Driveclub is made by Evolution Studios.

Yeah I read my post again and it's confusing lol I know who Polyphony and Evolution are and never intended on mixing them haha... What I meant in this post was that I would prefer Polyphony to focus on what's important and less on subtle graphical prowess like Evolution is doing. All we hear about this game is how good the graphics will be but not much about how it will play... gameplay>graphics imo

What is important is not determined by you though.
One thing to remember about this game is that it is an arcade racer and not a sim. From the previews i have read, and gameplay videos I have seen the cars seem to handle fine, and there seems to be a great feeling of speed which is one of the most important gameplay aspects for an arcade racer. Previews have also mentioned that driving is fun and satisfying. Thats the goal of an arcade racer in terms of gameplay. It also seems that they have modelled certain aspects of the gameplay on real life stats which is why they have also said that it has certain simulation aspects to it.
Handling, physics, audio and AI are all fleshed out in the OP as well. Its not like its ignored.
As for focusing on whats important...Evolution clearly has a vision for the game to be immersive, dynamic and some what real. It seems to be a goal for them. Considering that getting an arcade driving model right isnt really that tough why not focus on the rest?
You also implying they are only focusing on graphics...but a lot of what is mentioned in the OP is not focusing on graphics but rather on simulation. In a way this makes Drivclub more realistic than a GT or Forza where they completely ignore certain aspects...which ironically also makes those games feel less like a sim.
So yeah i don't see how you came to the conclusion that they are ignoring gameplay and simply focusing on graphics (graphics being textures, image quality and effects). They seem to have a clear focus on realism with fun driving gameplay.
Some points that i do agree with you on is the lack of locations, tracks and the very little amount of cars. In that regard yes that could have done with more focus. But perhaps for their game they didnt feel it was necessary or they decided to put a lot of focus on a smaller amount of cars to really take it to a next level. Also they havent mentioned much about the single player progression system..but then again no racing game really focuses on that prior to release. I would imagine it has a standard progression system. Lets hope its as addictive as Forza's!
