To be fair, a month ago isn't exactly a long time lol

is not. But Wii U didn't need MK8 to be above Vita

Right but what exactly did the Vita have that week? A port of a game that came out over a year ago? lol

and Wii U had what? yes, nothing until MK8 last week

Cutting the tree so we don't get moderated.

You're right, it had nothing but what happens when Mario Kart dies down and then the Wii U has nothing again for a few months? That is what the poster was talking about.

I'm happy about this effect MK8 has :) Go Wii U! Now Nintendo should back it up with some big time E3 announcements, like a mature Zelda, an open world Pokemon jRPG, an in-depth presentation of X, at least a port of Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and make a price-cut soon to help keep the momentum. I swear, if Nintendo cuts the price by $70, I'm getting a Wii U :) If they cut by $50, I'll be hunting for a good offert.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Zelda U will move even more units, as would a Metroid Prime 4. Zelda U is confirmed, Medtroid Prime 4 isn't. C'mon Nintendo, get to it!

Metroid Prime 4 would move as many units as a Mario Golf game ( Not many)!

Aww man, I understand if you compare it to something like Mario Strikers, but Mario Golf?

That's harsh man

but at the same time what does Vita have coming in the next few months? Freedom Wars in Japan which may give it a boost for a week or two but i cant think of anything else.

I think people underplay Mario Kart. Its not just a "big game", its the biggest card they have up they're sleeves. Nothing compares sales wise or in terms of audience outreach; not smash bros, not zelda, nothing with wii in its title

The system has a solid line up ahead and a smash bros+Mario Kart bundle will do wonders this holiday. I can see it selling on par with Xbox One till the end of the year.

I think most people see Mario Kart for what it is, a game that score huge on top of the Wii tidal wave. Of those 35m people that bought MK Wii, I will be surprise if 85% came back for MK8 on the Wii U. They were casuals that bought it because it was cool at the time. They are not coming back.

Of the 11m that bought SSBB on the Wii, I expect at least 40%+ to come back. Whereas Mario Kart is a casuals game, SSB is a Nintendo fans and "hardcore" gamer's game. Reading gaming forums it is not MK that many xbox and PS gamers would buy a Wii u for, it is SSB.

The casual Wii era is over and MK won that. This is now the Wii U era and I predict SSB to win this time around or at the very least equal MK.

Lets wait and see.

Well its definitely not a casual only title, its simply a title which appeals to everyone hence the 1.2m it sold in its first week. Also I've seen first hand the amount of interest MK8 has generated and I can say it will probably win some casual gamers back too. I personally think smash bros has no chance of meeting it in sales despite having a more loyal following but time will tell....

I am still gonna stick my head out and say SSB. I will remember your name and hopefully in a few months we will see who is right.... not to brag or anything, of course.

I still believe it will be a closely fought battle but nothing of the 35m vs 11m of last gen.

X has a chance to move consoles. Bayonetta 2 can make me buy a Wii U if God Of War IV isn't around the corner.
