I'm not saying that the 3ds will do horrible but it has seen better days. Sales have always been above 30k for each region and above 100k globally except recently where numbers have started to dip. Kirby, Mario Golf and Yoshi Island didn't really make a splash on the market either.
Not to mention the Wii U has a way bigger lineup for the rest of the year. With games like Mario Kart 8 boosting global sales to near that of the PS4 which has been raping the market since launch. Though the only likely thing that can help the 3ds this year is Smash, which is on the Wii U as well and is primarily a home console game.
