Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza Horizon 2 Announced - Cross-gen coming this fall

Hmm, I'm kind of on the fence about FH2 now.

- Southern Europe, Awesome
- Weather, Finally!
- Hundreds of cars, sure fine, 50/60 is enough really for an arcade racer but more choice is always good.
- Music festival remains, ugh why, couldn't stand it in FH1, I only visited the center to level up.
- Cross gen, doesn't sound to promising, how will that affect map size.
- Drivatard system, no thanks.

For me it all comes down to map size. FH1 was great, but very small, 13 hours to complete with repetition setting in after 2 hours. Get to TDU map sizes and I'm buying regardless of festival and drivatard nonsense.

I skimmed through and didn't see any release dates. I'd bet 360 version coming 1-3 weeks after One version. Anyway, cross gen is a good idea for now as it helps support previous console. After the first year or so, drop cross gen imo. With that said FH2 should look and play well on both platforms.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Ohh that's great I knew it would come. I'm also pleased they use Drivatar in this one better AI is always a good thing, way better than on rails drivers.

Sadly of course people would turn this into bad news, MS can't do any good. Releasing cross gen isn't a good thing but releasing old gens ports is... smh.

This year is a good year to own a 360 or a X1

So now we have Forza Horizon 2 and Drive Club to look foward to. Project Cars 2014 or 2015?

i kind of hear you, i do want support for the full cycle of a console not cutting out a year or two early.  ..but this is a full year after the next gen launch.  cross gen holds games back,.. or else next gen really is nothing more than higher resolution and frame rate.  either way there is a lot to be dissappointed about.

Yeah, its horrible! The 8th gen version only have higher resolution, higher frame rate... better shadows, better lighting, better textures, more effects, higher polygon models, better draw distance, less pop up, etc...

There is barely any improvments at all! Lets ignore some games like BF4 look and feel so much better on 8th gen even though a 7th gen version exists.

Also The Crew! 4 racers in 3 months is at least one too many...

I am hard as hell on MS but don't see a problem in throwing 360 owners a bone (hah). Only minor issue is a few people might buy this for their 360s instead of going xb1, who have already or will buy ps4.

Cross gen, hard to say if that matters here. It's a racer, with as little variation as they typically have I don't think the xb1 version will be held back.

Forza 5 engine, meh. I'm an old Forza fan starting with the first og Xbox game, and it was my main reason for preordering an xb1 (after the DRM 180). When I got it I was really disappointed. It was a huge downgrade from the e3/early footage version, content was weak, it was half the game compared to previous entries.

I hope they make it 720p and put the detail way up, they cut HUGE corners to hit 1080/60. And the microtransactions with cut back content and technical issues with my first xb1, after I got my warranty replacement I sold it all and will probably never buy another xb1 again. Gears, Fable, Halo are dead to me.

They definitely are taking a chance if they don't bump the res down to up the details, as DC will likely crap all over H2.

If two completely different developers are making the 360/X1 games will they even be the same game? Or do they have a very detailed blueprint to go by to make sure that the content is the same and they just have to do the technical work?

  1. We were only shown FH2 on XB1. Didn't see single 360 devkit at Playground. It's plenty "next-gen," I assure you. More in tmw's big preview!

    1. I've woken up to worries over Forza Horizon 2 also being on 360. FWIW another studio is doing 360; Playground is bldg XB1 ver off FM5 engine

Now people can stfu about cross gen lol probably the same people saying MS doesn't support 360.
