Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza Horizon 2 Announced - Cross-gen coming this fall

People have to be honest here, Cross Gen IS surprising in this case.

For me, it is for two reasons: The XB1 version is going to be held back by the 360 version and it won't look as good as it could, and this game could have sold a few XB1s but with it being cross platform, the number of XB1s it could have shifted will be reduced.

I think this was a 360 title that got delayed so they could also bring it to the XB1.

Well if they didn't have Forza on such a tight schedule they could probably delay this game another year and make it a fullblown next gen exclusive, but I guess they already have Forza 6 for next year and they don't want both in one year. That and, no matter what some people might suggest, the X1s holiday lineup isn't exactly bursting with exclusives either, so they'll happily take this even if it's cross gen.

Yep it is surprising.

But if you think about it there are reasons for it and it isn't such a bad thing.

Nope it isn't bad, only for people that wanted Horizon 2 to be the best looking racer this holiday this might be a bummer.

+ Fable HD
+ Max the curse of brotherhood
+ Project Spark

PS3 still had more last year.

Last of us, GT6, God of war ascension, MLB 13, Ni no kuni, Sly cooper thieves in time, Dragons crown, Puppeteer, Beyond two souls, dust 514.

GoW Judgement was a 3rd party exclusive...

That Microsoft Studios logo at the bottom would appear to disagree.

so mass effect (published by MS on 360) is a first party MS game on ps3!!    ..he again asks knowingly.

first party: the console manufaturer owns the IP and the studio

second party: the console manufaturer owns the ip but contracts an external studio

third party: the console manufaturer own neither the ip or the studio.

ms doesn't own epic.  ms, at the time, didn't own the gears ip.    third party exclusive.  sorry but that's the straight up definition.

it's only "bursting" relative to ps4.  sony had damn well better announce something...

XB360 should get a port of Forza 5 too, i believe it will at least sell a million more copy on XB360...

So, you think Forza Horizon would be a yearly game? That's not much tie for a dev lol

Yeah Microsoft has been pretty lacking in 1st party last few years but showing up late is better than never at all

Oh and Gears of War Judgement was a AAA 1st party game last year.

That's true at least ^^

On a side note though, Judgement, like the other three gears games, wasn't a 1st party title. It was developed by a third party and then published by MS (which is why their logo is on the box). Judgment is simply a 3rd party exclusive, since they neither own the IP (well, didn't at the time), nor do they own the studio.
