Forums - Gaming - Ryse would be praised if it was by Quantic Dream.

@danman -- Why should it fail? it doesn't have follow GOW formula. it has the right to soemthing different. If every time you miss you fail,, then flow of the battle and the game gets interrupted and it will get annoying after awhile . Trust me failing to do a QTE on the hardest quickly pretty much means GG as you need the health and the rest to survive. On hard or so difficulty failing to press QTE means you don't get enough to upgrade your character and yuo ended having a not so strong character. I hope you do know Heavy rain and Ryse are two completely different game. Qte and consequences of failing it is detrimental to the story of the game. Ryse is a story driven hack and slash ,, so implementing system liek that ,, would not make sense. However QTE in heavy rain is so easy and hard to fail. On my first play through ,, i got the characters alive with ease .If you play on easy and normal ,, then yeah its hard to fail in ryse, however if you play on hard you can fail and if you play on the hardest difficulty ,, then you will definetly die quite often . Have you played the game? I don't trust reviewers as their reviewers is usually based on their preference, excpectations and their skill level which is different for every individual. Ign especially tend to not be good in gaming and favor GOW and COD more which should say alot.

No, he said they deserve to be bashed, not that he doesn't enjoy them. One is an opinion, the other is a declaration against other peoples' opinions. How you came to the conclusion that my defense of people having an opinion was actually an effort to bash people having an opinion is beyond me.

I'm not sure whether you misunderstood his post or are willfully misinterpreting it for the sake of argument, but either way it's abundantly clear that trying to have a conversation with you is going to be futile.

Wow, nice attempt at deflection. Let's review the sequence of comments, shall we?

He said: No, we should be bashing Heavy Rain and Beyond as much as we do Ryse. ;)

You said: Fuck you, diversity!

He said: No, fuck you games trying to be movies. ;)

Now, the first thing to observe is the presence of the smilies. Smilies pretty much universally indicate an element of tongue-in-cheekiness. Of course, it's the content, not the smiley itself, that tells us in what way it's tongue-in-cheek. Much as how I used the rhetorical technique of mirroring your argument as a way to mock you, so too was he using a rhetorical technique. In the first instance, it was exaggeration for effect. In the second, he used the same technique I did - mirroring.

As such, I would assert that, if anybody "misunderstood his post" or "[is] willfully misinterpreting it", it's you. But thanks for making a broad and sweeping attack on me over a single observation. For you see, I used a rhetorical technique. So did curl. You used ad hominem. I recommend that you read back over everything and try viewing it from a perspective other than your own; it might be elucidating.

Somehow I doubt that the devs saying "hey guys, focus on the story and graphics, not the gameplay" would have taken this game from critical flop to critical success.

I'm saying it would be perceived better if pushed for visual and story elements, not the sub par gameplay. Crytek was really pushing gameplay.

Look at JRPGs, most have terrible gameplay. But people go to them for the story and what not.

Oh lawd, I haven't ever seen this argument.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

They're only similar to you because you dislike HR type of gameplay, whereas ryse is disliked for it's POORLY DONE gameplay.
Heavy Rain's gameplay was very well done, it just only appeals to a specific segment of the market.

But fortunately you're not the people who made Quantic Dream because you don't get at all the HUGE difference between the two.

Ryse is a repetetive action and QTA game with not much story, art direction, or plot.

An average of 70 and a 8.1 userscore on metacritic and isn't what I consider "bitchstomped."

Anything below 80+ on metacritic is seem as "crap" by most people(not by me though).

The biggest reviewers like IGN and EDGE "bitchstomped" the game.I'm really suprised that the game could reach 70+ on metacritic.

Yeah in fact I think its much better than Uncharted. I don't know why PS fans praise Uncharted so much when their is God Of War around.

Apples and oranges.

Also, the GoW trilogy ended in 2010. People might be intrigued again when they start a new story.

And then they say that Xbox fans are all over shooters, when they themselves ignore the greatness of God Of War cause its not a shooter. I really dislike hypocrates, even if the are fellow PS fans. Seems like God Of War would get the attention it deserves more on Xbox than it does on PS.

I have to ask because I am not sure if you are being serious or not. Are you saying that PS/Sony fans ignore GOW? Like in a serious manner? I mean it is one of the Top 3 Ps/Sony exclusives and you are saying it is ignored? GOW:A got flack because it was not as good as other GOW games but other than that the GOW franchise has NEVER been ignored. And both (GOW and Uncharted) get A LOT of praise...so I am not sure what you are saying or what you mean.

I am just saying that it deserves even more success which it probably would have gotten if it was Xbox exclusive or multiplatform.

Imo, all reviews, reviewers and game critics are worthless, until they adhere to a uniform set of metrics.  You have every single entity out there rating games on differing benchmarks, which can change from game to game even in the same company.  Best source for games info is friends of like minded interests.  I trust them more than any current gaming 'analyst' out there.

I'm against the score system used by reviewers.People don't read the reviews, they just scroll down to the score. I prefer the Kotaku's YES or NO system.I think it's more fair that way.
