Nah, Metroid just overlaps with StarFox and F-Zero. Just that the galaxy's large enough that none of them ever run into each other (except that one timeline in StarFox Command where Fox and Falco ran away to join G-Zero).

As for your theory though, Bowser's hair color does match Ganondorf's, after all, so I'll have to give it some credibility. Peach's wisdom may serve as a pretty strong counter-argument however, considering her generally clueless personality and persistence with sticking to unarmed body guards and care takers.

Its true Luigi isn't a coward by any real human standard, merely by video game character ones. He's almost the only video-game character with sane reactions.However for a video game character however that is still alot of fear.

I'd argue Peach has already realized Bowser isn't really dangerous. Perhaps Demise's rage has faded over such untold eons and was merely enough to corrupt the unborn child of the Koopa Royalty? It'd explain why Bowser has such a warped form of social-manners if he was the monster child of sane-royals, and it would explain how he conflats fury and lust, not to mention it he often seems confused himself about what is driving him.

Besides it seems like something Zelda would figure out that the Mario Bros can actually handles themselves while her servants are largely weaker than her in physical strength. Choosing the fastest gaurds possible (a strong point for Toads) so they could fetch any of her stronger allies would be very wise indeed.
